Reid Statement On The April Jobs Report
United States Senate Democrats ^ | 5/4/12 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 05/04/2012 3:22:37 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, D.C.Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after the Labor Department announced the economy added 115,00 jobs in April, and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.1 percent.

“Today’s figures show that while the unemployment rate continues to fall, too many Americans in Nevada and throughout our nation are still struggling to find work. Creating jobs must remain Congress’ top priority.

“Unfortunately, Republicans are currently obstructing a number of common-sense, bipartisan policies that would create and protect millions of American jobs. The House is sitting on bipartisan bills to save three million transportation jobs, and modernize the postal industry. There is no reason why we should not pass these common-sense jobs bills without delay – no reason except for Republican obstruction.”

“Unfortunately, Republicans are currently obstructing a number of common-sense, bipartisan policies that would create and protect millions of American jobs..."

Hey Dingy Harry, I thought that was what TARP was for. I thought that was what the multi-billion dollar bailout was for. I thought that was what the Solyndra bailout was for. I thought that was what the Tesla bailout was for. I thought that was what the A123 bailout was for. I thought that was what all the "shovel-ready" jobs were for.

We should be living on easy street now with 4.5% unemployment. What happened Harry? ... Harry? [crickets]

Creating jobs must remain Congress’ top priority . . .

How about just getting out of the way? A game of Solitaire? Pissing up a rope?

And the hard hitting counter argument from McConnell or Boehner?

"Common-sense"?

It seems that today, both Obama & Reid used that term. Must be in the latest batch of Dim talking points. Can Nancy Pelosi and DWS be far behind to parrot the same thing?!

I wish just someone on our side would have the guts to slam back with the stats on number of people in the work force rather than discussing the unemployment statistic. That is a meaningless number due to excluding so many other important factors. Take the number of people 18 or older with actual jobs vs the number without jobs. That would never be discussed. Nor would the number of actual jobs available. Even the number of jobs killed by an artificial minimum wage.

He’s got road construction going on all over Las Vegas. He got his stimulus share and took care of his union buds! Didn’t do much for women who need jobs. My daughter was out of work for 18 months. There are condos in the southwest part of the valley that have sat vacant for NINE years. Don’t know why anyone would move here! Their school system stinks!

Speaker Boehner Statement on April 2012 Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, DC (May 4)

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement today regarding the Department of Labor’s unemployment report for April 2012:

“Today’s report is more evidence President Obama’s policies aren’t working for families and small businesses, and aren’t creating enough jobs to get our economy back on track. Where are the jobs? Families are stuck: the wages of those fortunate enough to have a job are stagnant, but they’re paying more for everything from gasoline to groceries. And those looking for work can’t find it because ObamaCare, our spending-driven debt, and the threat of tax hikes are making it harder for small businesses to hire. Nearly half of college graduates are unemployed or underemployed in President Obama’s economy.

“But rather than address these challenges, President Obama has wasted time trying to distract the American people with gimmicks like the Buffett tax hike and fake fights over noncontroversial issues. Election-year gimmicks might win the president some votes but they won’t create American jobs.

“The House has passed a series of bills to address high energy prices through projects like Keystone XL, remove government barriers to job growth, and stop Washington from spending money we don’t have. President Obama has shown what doesn’t work; now it’s time to try something we know will: getting the government out of the way of families and small businesses.”

Reid also enjoys the support of politically bi-polar Donald Trump.

The trouble with Harry is his roses have suffered from neglect and he is unhappy about that. Is this little poof going to win the next Nevada Senate election? He is a permanent fixture in the Senate and I blame the unions and the morons in Vegas who keep putting him back. Sad state of affairs!
