Immigrants told 'Welcome to Hell' at Edinburg stash house

More information has been revealed about the 115 immigrants found in an Edinburg Stash House on Wednesday.

According to court records, “Welcome to Hell” is the greeting dozens of undocumented immigrants heard when they arrived into the U.S.

Those same court records stated that the greeting wasn’t far from the truth.

$500 a week is much Marcial Salas claimed he was making to smuggle in and hide dozens of illegal immigrants.

Court documents show that Salas admitted to locking the immigrants in a stash house located down a dirt road off of University Drive in Edinburg, despite the rising heat, to keep them from escaping.

The immigrants were given very little food, almost no water and some even reached the point of dehydration.

Desperation took over for one immigrant who finally found the courage to dial 911.

Knowing that meant he would be heading right back to the country he tried escaping.

"They're stuck inside these homes for days at a time in crowded situations,” said Border Patrol Agent Rosalinda Huey. “Sometimes there is only one bathroom for 60 people. They are placed in very horrible conditions."

Huey said they don't keep statistics on the number of 911 calls made by immigrants who might be lost in the brush or being held against their will, but said the calls are frequent.

"We've seen where people start fearing for their lives that they might not get release,” said Huey. “They're getting sick or they can longer stay in those homes---so they will dial 911 for help. We encourage that. No one should be placed in that type of situation."

Another update:PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say they've rescued four Mexican men from a Phoenix drop house and arrested five suspected human smugglers.

Three of the hostages told federal immigration investigators that they were beaten and sexually assaulted by their captors, who also used a stun gun on them.

Not to worry violence from Mexico is not spilling over into America. Ask big sis who walks and knows that border well enough she can say, the border is more secured than ever

These people are not “immigrants”.

They are brought here to be slaves, and while they should be deported back to wherever they came from, the slave traders and the “employers/masters” who recruited them should be sent to prison for life, with no possibility of parole.

I did not get any of that “...They are brought here to be slaves...,...the slave traders and the “employers/masters”... from the story, The people paid people (Criminals) to smuggle them here. What can you expect when you hire a criminal to help you be one too.

What kind of results do illegals think they will get, they hire criminal drug cartels smugglers who control all the smuggling routes and pay them thousand of dollars. The drug cartels do not care if their cargo lives or dies, all they care about is their money. It’s not like the drug cartels have this tripe A rating with the better business bureau as honest, reliable, well trusted human smugglers.I wonder why all these people who protest against laws in Alabama or Arizona’s SB 1070, they talk about the cruel impact our immigration enforcement policies have on them and their family.I never see any of these same protesters staging protest marches against human smugglers treatment of illegals. They shy away from making any comments and would rather tell us how racist Alabama or Arizona is . When Mexican Smugglers terrorize their own people here in the U.S. it has become a high-priced commodities in an escalating war.

Someone needs to tell the GOPe that although the illegals offer them endless peasant labor in America, open borders for illegal immigration is an outrageously abusive system. They are not doing anyone except any favors, beyond the corrupt empoloyers looking for cheap labor, with this illegal and systematic abuse of people.

The story was people fed up about conditions at a stash house and rightly so, The fact that the criminal enterprise of smuggling people is used by drug smugglers too don’t surprise me. I was against amnesty in 1986 but our government has not enforced the laws we already have to this day. I’m all for states enacting laws as they see fit; that includes increasing immigration if they want. What I’m not for is adding mandates to what employers already have ie collecting taxes. The government used illegals as a cash cow. Most business withheld taxes and sent in the money to the IRS using the given ID. I don’t think the government should come along after letting some one stay here 29 years and kick them out (1986 Amnesty had a time period to be eligible). My anecdotal story is my colleague was threatened with EEOC when I pointed that the documents don’t look like the guys he brought out from the Job service when he told job service. My hypothesis is Roe Vs Wade is positively correlated to the size of our problem with illegal immigration, Getting teens from Job service dried up in the late eighties early nineties.

Don't pretend to be naive, you just look stupid!

If you are a non-English speaking person from a third world nation, a slaver/smuggler looks very much like a steerage class ticket seller for the Titanic.
Except you have never heard of the Titanic, and in wanting to escape from a hellish life in your own nation, you don't understand that you are paying money to enter into another nightmare.
Bribery and corruption is such a staple in third world nations...it looks normal to them.

That it looks normal to a citizen of the USA shows how far we have fallen away from our charter.

I say eject a few recreational drug users from prison, and fill up our jails with slavers and those who import /hire illegal aliens.

What say you?

That is your ranting you're talking about. The people (slaves) had a cell phone to call 911. Does your metaphorical argument hold any basis in reality? They were threaten because the people helping them didn't want to be caught and the immigrants would do stupid things to attract attention. It is no wonder people want to come here if you consider where they're coming from. Some are abused by the criminal nature of coming here but nobody sold them (forced them to buy)a ticket. They're not slaves maybe most have relatives and friends here all ready.
