An 18-year-old walked away with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a bus near the University of Texas at Austin.
KXAN in Austin reports that Cyril Yannick “Nick” Engmann, 18, of Rockwall, was joining other students in “Foam Sword Friday,” an end-of-the-semester tradition, when he ran onto the street just as a bus was driving by.
Shocked onlookers, who, like Engmann, were waving foam swords, watched as he was knocked several feet in front of the bus. He then walked away from the crash, but was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.
KXAN says the driver was cited for allegedly running a red light. The 21-year veteran with Capital Metro will reportedly be placed on leave during an investigation.
School of Architecture Dean Frederick Steiner told the station that this will probably be the last year for “Foam Sword Friday,” an event not sanctioned by UT.

Since we have been noticing the Left’s racial tribalism of young people, did you notice that all but one of those white men joined the black students in running to the aide of the injured black student. That is just plain odd.
Had there not been black students to take care of “their own”, I wonder if the white students would have rushed to him and I wonder why they did not in light of black students being present. At that age (and this age), I would have run to him because color would not have entered my mind. Unfortunately for young people indoctrinated into hard core leftist diversity racism today, that may not be the case.

I'm sure it didn't occur to them either. Don't believe everything you read. Yea, there's a few (more) race baiters around in Austin, of all groups, but most don't give a fig about what color someone is.
Foam swords. From my cold dead hands...literally in this case.
Odds are that the driver was black since some of the crowd didn’t pull him out and beat him to death in the street for hitting a black kid.
I guess the bus is an allegory for life in general. Fat dumb and stupid college student meets the hard reality of life after the foam sword of worthless degree meets pavement of free market. “What do you mean my 200,000 dollar degree qualifies me for minimum wage ?!!!”

Probably didn’t hurt that the kid was lubed. Hear it happens a lot to dwi driver in wrecks.
I can only assume he was a plant from Texas A&M, where they're more familiar with quadrupeds as a means of transportation (and staying warm on those cold nights).
(No need for all of those responses about the Corps of Cadets and Aggie Traditions; there were more Aggie line officers in WWII than from West Point and Annapolis combined and they've served this country admirably. But they're still Aggies.)
