I bet Creative Cause in the second pre-pool and got 17-1. I haven't changed my mind. I still like him. I'm particularly against Bodemeister who was the morning-line favorite. I think his Arkansas Derby win has been way overrated.

(And I have Get Stormy in the 10th.)

I really like Alpha or Gemologist. I’ve been watching their workouts and races for awhile. I have tickets to the Derby but can’t go because one of my mares is overdue to foal. It’s her first foal and she’ s almost a month late!

WOW! Congrats on you foal coming. I was at the Derby the year (1971) Canonero II won it. I was on the infield with a couple of rowdy friends from Kentucky who had come up to work at Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse Michigan. It was probably near my 21st birthday because my b/day is May 6. I remember drinking quite a few Little Kings and Orange Julius during the course of the day. We slept in sleeping bags on the grass right near the gate in the early morning hours to be the 1st ones in when the gates opened.

Interesting info about Borel (Borail). Thanks. I'm going to look over the Racing Form and make some selections before the race. I should be at Northville Downs Michigan doing some simulcast betting...this is my kind of race...no clear cut favorite and a lot of horses...but I had too many things to do today around the house.

OK, my long, longshot (20-1 Form) El Padrino (he does well on a bit of an off track) I’ll front and backwheel him in the exactor - $38

My longshot Daddy Nose Best (15-1 Form)...I’ll front and backwheel him in the exactor - $38

My somewhat longshot (10-1 Form) Hansen...I’ll take him for $20 to win.

I’ll take Dullahan (8-1 Form) and Union Rags (9/2 Form) for $50 each to win.

TOTAL bet (on about a 10 minute analysis) $198. It’s my kind of race...lots of horses...no clear cut favorite (I don’t like soft favorites).

(waiting now)...AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME!

Good luck & best wishes horsemen and handicappers!

BEST 2 MINUTES IN SPORTS BUMP!

Good picks. I looked at Daddy Long Legs a lot. That would be a whopping payoff.

Yeah, I just tuned in about 15 minutes ago. I caught the tail-end of the Baffert story and I just saw the story on Union Rags. Very nice coverage.

I’m not quite sure why, but I’m cheering for Dullahan. I lke his trainer, his rider and the fact that he won his last race, 9 furlongs, pulling away. He seems to be getting better with each race.

But what do I know? I have no association with horses except as a spectator.

I have the most "hunch" feelings about Went The Day Well and Bodiemiester-not that it means anything ;-)

Good luck to everyone.

OOps! Should pay more attention to spelling:
Bodiemiester=Bodemeister.

Great ride by the jockey. I had a straight win bet on him so I get some money back- Yaye.

I was at the Derby the year (1971) Canonero II won it.

Also my only live Derby. We were also among the first into the infield. We took a position right by the rail at the 1/8 pole (just in front of the Derby start.) Now that position is completely unavailable. They had to put in a chain link fence to contain @$$holes who might run onto the track. Then they added the turf course, and now there are temporary stands all along the stretch in the infield so no one in the infield has any chance to actually see a horse running through the stretch.

I bet Jim French who ran second. It may have been the only race my then wife to be ever handicapped. She bet Twist the Ax.

WOW! That is about exactly where we were. We had to be within 10-15 ft of each other. IIRC, I bet (and lost) on Eastern Fleet. It was also my one and only live Derby. I highly recommend it. It was a very enjoyable memory of my youth. The atmosphere was fantastic. The folks I met that weekend in and out of the Derby were very hospitable. It was a great feeling...being in Kentucky...my first time visiting that state (commonwealth).
