Americans renounced their citizenship in record numbers in 2011

If you think residing in America is taxing, just talk to one of the many expatriates who is contributing to a shocking statistic recently discovered: across the globe, people are renouncing their US citizenship in record numbers.

At least 1,788 Americans officially threw away their US citizenship in 2011, exceeding the totals from 2007, 2008 and 2009 combined. The Internal Revenue Service has been keeping a tally of US citizens driven to renouncing that title since only 1998, but last year’s number has officially raised the bar when it comes to calling America quits. What’s more, experts say, is that more and more Americans will soon be saying 'sayonara' to Uncle Sam if the federal government keeps up its trend of heavily taxing US citizens abroad.

If Zero wins in November, to which country can we move that will appreciate hard working Capitalists? Our once great country will be unrecognizable if Obama has 4 more years of destruction.

Expatriation Act, July 27, 1868.

CHAP. CCXLIX – An Act concerning the Rights of American Citizens in foreign States.

Whereas the right of expatriation is a natural and inherent right of all people, indispensable to the enjoyment of the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and whereas in the recognition of this princi-ple, this government has freely received emigrants from all nations, and invested them with the rights of citizenship; and whereas it is claimed that such American citizens, with their descendents, are subjects of for-eign states, owing allegiance to the governments thereof; and whereas it is necessary to the maintenance of public peace that this claim of foreign allegiance should be promptly and finally disavowed; Therefore,

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That any declaration, instruc- tion, opinion, order, or decision of any officers of this government which denies, restricts, impairs, or questions the right of expatriation, is hereby declared inconsistent with the fundamental principles of this government.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all naturalized citizens of the United States, while in foreign states, shall be entitled to, and shall receive from this government, the same protection of persons and prop-erty that is accorded to native-born citizens in like situations and circumstances.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That whenever it shall be made known to the President that any citizen of the United States has been unjustly deprived of his liberty by or under the authority of any foreign government, it shall be the duty of the President forthwith to demand of that government the reasons for such imprisonment, and if it appears to be wrongful and in violation of the rights of American citizenship, the Presi-dent shall forthwith demand the release of such citizen, and if the release so demanded is unreasonably delayed or refused, it shall be the duty of the President to use such means, not amounting to acts of war, as he may think necessary and proper to obtain or effectuate such release, and all the facts and proceedings relative thereto shall as soon as practicable be communicated by the President to Congress.

Approved, July 27, 1868.

The IRS tracks these stats for tax reasons.

Generally, these persons have moved their wealth outside of the United States and renunciation will allow large income tax savings.

The Feds don't allow renunciation to relieve these persons of taxes, they demand them anyway, and threaten criminal prosecution.

However, all foreign states do recognize renunciation and will no longer cooperate with the US in seizing assets or extradition of renounced persons. Most make a deal with a foreign state for residency and protection for a fee, and thumb their noses at the Feds from everyplace in the world except US territory.

Sorry, wouldn’t want to be in some third-world socialist pit when the SHTF.

It’ll be bad enough to be living here when it happens.

I would rather stay and keep fighting to save the USofA.

I don’t want to renounce my citizenship.
I want Obama to renounce his, where ever it is.
I don’t want civil war, what I do want
is to RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION!
If someone doesn’t want to do that
they are free to move beyond the boundries
of the United States to somewhere like say
California...

"...the United States is the only nation that taxes its citizens no matter where they reside on Earth."

That fact alone speaks volumes!

Our once great country will be unrecognizable if Obama has 4 more years of destruction.

It's unrecognizable now, and it's because of the expansion of voting rights to those the Founders warned against.

Obama is not the disease.

He is a symptom.

I will help any capitalists that want to move to Japan. We have a great capitalist community here that is open for all.

And to those who say, “good riddance”, you haven’t ever been outside the US, I presume. Ignorance.

I love the USA, but not in its current state.

But these are the type of Americans that this country would like to keep for their wealth, brain and good citenzenship.

You can bet that none of them are Obamanoids, criminals or welfare recipients — they’re the ones that regrettably stay.

**

I’m from canada originally. Do NOT move there. 48% indiv tax rate vs US 35% rate. Seriously. I love PM Harper (helped him win while under the Conservative Party banner) but I won’t go back except for visiting family and friends. That’s a cop out if you want to move out because of this kenyan a&&hole. We need more muscle here when the Civil War breaks out or you’ll miss the action..

These people are the canaries in the US coal mine...

They are renouncing their US citizenship in pursuit of liberty and the freedom
from an oppressive government that not only demands a greater amount of their
flesh each year, but is systematically stripping all of us of freedom in multiple
areas. Most do not realize how the net is closing. These people have drawn a line.
I wish them the best.

The pursuit of liberty and opportunity are why people immigrated to America.
While many with no money or education are coming still, the “smart money” is
voting with its feet.

As I’ve posted here before, I’ve read there are more initial public offerings in Hong Kong
now than in the USA and London combined. They choose to go public where there is access
to plentiful capital and little excessive regulation.

My dear country, America, has entered an age of empire decline. It’s citizens do not
understand this yet.
