Carter was indeed STOOPID, incompetent and naive. Obama knows what is he is doing and even scary in that he knows precisely what he is doing and destroying America in the process.
This is a fool’s errand. At best, it will be negotiating from a point of weakness in the eyes of an intractable enemy and an ineffectual and corrupt ally (i.e. Karzai and his government). At worst, it is giving aid to that enemy.
In either case, two things come immediately to mind. First and most obviously, the released prisoners will likely go right back to what they were doing before - trying to kill U.S. and allied forces, promises or not. Secondly, those that do honor their agreement are likely to do so with the intent to periodically demand concessions, aid, or other payoffs to remain “peaceful”.
However, this controversial exchange program 'has been in existence for years.'

The number of improvised explosive devices that were cleared or detonated rose to 16,554 from 15,225, an increase of 9%, according to data obtained by USA TODAY. In 2009, total IED “events,” as they are known, came to 9,304.
Insurgent reliance on IEDs as their No. 1 weapon meant a rise in concussions and severe wounds to U.S. servicemembers who have been operating on foot to root out Taliban fighters in remote areas.

The word is not "appeasement" but outright "collaboration" - for the goal is NOT "peace" and coexisting but the destruction of what he & his ilk call the "privileges" & power of America and white/non-third-world Americans. Obama's entire biography and all his past associations speak to no other purpose.
He has and will always stand with Black against White, Muslim against Christian, the 3rd World against the West, global socialism against capitalism, etc.. Everything else that Obama and his propagandists, in and out of government, tell you to the contrary are strategic lies.
What this is all about is the Obama administration demonstrating they can be a good “go along, get along” kinda outfit ....a real player in coming world government.
