Gee, I can hardly believe it. This seems so out of character.
They want their “ancestral sacred land”? What....the Great Wall of China?
Lots of Indians are getting fed propaganda from agitators looking to stir things up.
Grew up outside a Rez. It destroyed the people on it.
So-called “native Americans had the continent fr 20,000 years and worked their way all the way up to the Neolithic.
Europeans arrive and five hundred years later are leaving footprints on the moon.
Who should be in charge of what?
If indians took over Rushmore, it might improve it. If you go to the nearby Crazy Horse monument, it is a much nicer experience.
I hope the left and the UN keep pushing it..and let’s find out how many votes there are in the next congress to take the US out of the UN.
So what if native Americans had claimed the entire Rocky Mountains as sacred? Or one or all of the Great Lakes? Or the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, or other large American rivers? How about the entire North American land mass? What then?
Oh, ..... it was the Europeans that did all that???
Ummmmmm.......never mind.
Goodbye, Mt Rushmore.
Jefferson is the only Democrat up there.
That ain’t enough to save it.
Look for it to be blown-up and replaced with a casino.
This administration won’t be coming to the aid of three
stone Republicans.
Of course then they can do the “new” Mt. Rushmore in
California with FDR, Woodrow Wilson, LBJ and Clinton
up there.
FUN!
It could be a good thing to give Mount Rushmore back to the Sioux and have them remove all the faces.
I’d rather have them do that than for this administration to add Obama’s face with the four that are already there.
The only land I know that all Indidans consider sacred is the pipestone quaries in which Catlinite is dug out for sacred pipes.
It is now a Monument but Indians are still allowed to gather the stone.
Ah, history, where is thy sting? First the Lakota didn’t reach the Black hills until around 1775. When they promptly drove the Kiowa, who were living there, out. The Apache had lived there, for a while, even earlier, and been driven out by somebody else.
The problem the Sioux [derived from the Objibway or Chippewa word for ‘snake’]had was they were an expanding military power [they drove the Crow off the Powder River Buffalo range in 1875 or 1876] who ran into a better one, us.And despite the Fetterman massacre, the Rosebud and the Little Big Horn, they lost. By Spring of 1877, they had all either come, or fled to Canada.
So the Lakota and the U.N can shove their peace pipe where the sun don’t shine. GARRY OWEN!
‘Bammy and the rest of DC would be happy to get Flyover Country outta their hair...
The Sioux only lived on the plains for about 70 years. They kicked out the Crows.
If the UN can give it back to them than it seems fair to assume that the UN will also be able to take it away from them again at a later date.
