Energy: Cutting our reliance on oil from unstable regions is a good idea if not a necessity. But that crude won't be replaced by algae or biofuel. To be more independent, we need to go to the well one more time — back to Texas.
The Lone Star State is not a favorite of the environmentalists and their political-media allies. But it has long been a rich source of oil that drives our economy.
While other states — particularly North Dakota and Alaska — have become more newsworthy for their oil production, Texas wells aren't yet dry.
The Eagle Ford shale formation, a 400-mile-long, 50-mile-wide, crescent-shaped field in the south central part of the state, is still brimming with crude.

Eagle Ford is the media darling; however, here in South Central Texas they’re still drilling new well after new well in the *Austin Chalk*, a formation that’s been producing since the 1920’s.
They’re using a horizontal lateral line technique where the laterals are 6000 to 7000 feet long — that’s about half as far horizontally as the vertical depth. Heavy multiple fracturing opens up seams in tight formations; the laterals intersect these seams.
The wells are quite expensive to drill, but they essentially never come up dry and the wells are typically quite productive, although it’s anyone’s guess for how long they will remain so.

Kinda just about says it all,, that’d cover about 90% of NYC to the top of maine. God only knows why they each get two senators. If they ever end the electoral college,,, all those little piss ant places should have to share two senators for about 8 states.
I’m from Louisiana but I’ve been over here in south Texas working in the Eagle Ford for almost 2 years now. It’s an amazing boom. It reminds me of what I read about the Alaskan gold rush back in the early 1900s. Where there was once only a small intersection about a year ago is not a bustling community. The particular company I’m consulting for has plans for over 2500 wells over a 8 year period. So far, they’ve done about 300 or so. It’s a busy place!!! Hwy. 72 that runs right thru the formation is an absolute mad house with oil field traffic. The little town of Kenedy, TX is smack in the center and has seen a lot of growth in every sector. I LOVE this business... :)

That is absolutely true and needs to be hammered into the brains of the leftist idiots who think there is an alternative to oil
Sure, but we expected that. Look at the attempts to malign fracking.
But the bottom line is that the industry has one heck of a safety record, and that has been improving over the decades.
We've heard every whine up here in Western North Dakota from too much traffic, to 'haze', to the evils of flaring gas, to how fracking is destroying everything and causing earthquakes, but we hear all this from people who don't live or work here (except for the traffic complaints).
The statistics don't bear out the complaints, and highway construction will take care of the traffic (and provide more jobs). What's not to like, unless you are from the Government and jealous that you aren't the one slicing the pie.
Cuero, Goliad, Kennedy, Karnes City are all bursting at the seams... Seguin and Beeville are two of the bigger towns around and the hotels are full ALWAYS... you can’t get a room here.
We like the Eagle Ford its good for us.
