MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - A new map created by civil rights activists tracks the whereabouts of hundreds of, what they call, hate groups. Many of them are shown to be right here in the Mid-South.
According to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center, white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups claim the election of President Barack Obama added muscle to their movements.
A map from the SPLC supports their claim.
The number of hate and right wing extremist groups has increased 750 percent since 2008.
Among the more than 1,000 groups identified on the SPLC's hate map, 106 operate in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
Groups like the Sovereign Citizens and other anti-government organizations, as well as White Nationalists and Black Separatists, which the SPLC tracks to Shelby County.
The Ku Klux Klan appears on the map in North Mississippi.
Brian Pace is a self-described racial preservationist, who lives in Baldwyn, Mississippi.
"Whenever we had racial segregation things were much better off," Pace said.
Pace founded the Council of White Patriot Voters last year.
"We're a national membership organization fighting for equal rights for whites and the advancement of our people," he explained.
The SPLC says the group's agenda is to create a separate "white state" and that's what landed Pace's group on this hate map.
"You know, we're not going run off and cry about it because, you know, that's free publicity for us, so more power to them," said Pace. "We're just the same as what the NAACP is for blacks. We don't hate anybody we just want to preserve our people."
The president of the NAACP's Memphis chapter takes offense to Pace's comparison.
"We have never focused ourselves as a supremacist group," said Dr. Warner Dickerson.
And Dr. Dickerson adds that the NAACP does NOT discriminate.
"He's convinced that he's right because he's been brainwashed," he said.
Dickerson isn't as concerned about hate speech as he is hate about hate crimes.
The U.S. Justice Department says hate crimes are on the rise.
In Tennessee alone, hate crimes rose more than 50 percent from 2010 to 2011. One out of every three were racially motivated.
Pace says his group denounces violence.
"We denounce any violent acts, it's the wrong move, I mean, it's not needed," said Pace.
He and other critics accuse the SPLC of instilling fear in Americans to raise money by labeling, what he calls "legitimate conservatives," as extremists.
"The white race is only 8 percent of the world population right now, we can't afford for our people to get killed, we can't afford for racial integration or we're not going to exist at all," he said.
In just eight months Pace has recruited members from six states. He recruited people he describes as politically active, mainstream Christian conservatives.
He insists his efforts to preserve the white race aren't motivated by hate.
The SPLC warns otherwise and says if nothing else, their map puts extremist groups and their actions on the radar.
Is SEIU or Occupy on the map?
The SPLC is a far-left hate group.
You beat me to it.
These clowns need a good FReeping for their failure to admit that OWS, the New Black Pampers, and other Dem-friendly groups are the real active hate groups in the USA today.
Up until about 2 years ago, a former member of the KKK was operating in the US Senate, and was using racial slurs on TV with impunity. Where were the NAACP and the SPLC then?
“The number of hate and right wing extremist groups has..”
What about left wing hate groups? What about OWS and those assclowns who tried to blow up that bridge? What about the black racist group that offered a 10,000 bounty for Zimmerman?
SPLC reminds me of the national council of churches. If you didn’t know any better, you would think they were a legitimate group doing good in the world.
Daniel Greenfield/Sultan Knish did a great piece on them a while back on how he - one blogger - has been classified as a hate group by them.
"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal".--James (Jim) Cone,
African American Religious Thought: An Anthology (Paperback)
by Cornel West (Editor), Eddie S. Glaude Jr. (Editor)
SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?
Malik Zulu Shabazz, chairman of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (NBPP):
"We believe in a Black first philosophy and a Black Liberation Theology."
Although it [The New Black Panther Party] says it sees capitalism as the fundamental problem with the world and revolution as the solution, the new party does not draw its influences from Marxism or Maoism as the original party did. Instead, in a carefully-worded, roundabout form of ethnic nationalism, they say that Marx based his ideology and teachings on indigenous African cultures, and that the NBPP therefore need not look to Marxism or Maoism as a basis for their program, but can look to ideologies that stem directly from those African origins.
"The Justice Department originally brought the case against four armed men who witnesses say derided voters with catcalls of "white devil" and "cracker" and told voters they should prepare to be "ruled by the black man." ..."
One poll watcher called police after he reportedly saw one of the men brandishing a nightstick to threaten voters.
As I walked up, they closed ranks, next to each other, the witness told Fox News at the time. So I walked directly in between them, went inside and found the poll watchers. They said theyd been here for about an hour. And they told us not to come outside because a black man is going to win this election no matter what.
He said the man with a nightstick told him, Were tired of white supremacy, and he starts tapping the nightstick in his hand. At which point I said, OK, were not going to get in a fistfight right here, and I called the police....
"Security" patrols stationed at polling places in Philly:
Black Panthers intimidate voters in Philadelphia with night stick:
Remember that great line (excuse) they gave ?
Were not really set up to cover the extreme Left.
Goodness gracious, if they did that, they’d lose all their funding.
Shock Photos: Candidate Obama Appeared And Marched With New Black Panther Party in 2007:
the SPLC is a hate group, many green groups are hate groups, occupy and SEIU like you said and lets not forget the NAACP is a hate group who does promote hatred and plays the victim card.
The SPLC is nothing but a left wing radical hate group trying to make themselves as legit, sadly we have many left wing idiots in the media today who are just plain dumb and cannot do their job
Some of these groups are way out touch, but I will say this, you cannot hire a dentist to clean out the septic tank on your property.
When it comes time for fighting the public will have been indoctrinated to believe any militia no matter how far left or right it tilts will be evil.
This is a tactic to create impressions, that you cannot trust any anti-government group, but the problem is much higher, its actually the government that is heading down the wrong path with its current ideology.
I would rather tolerate a peaceful prepared militia group than a Federally protected enclave of Moslem terrorists.
Or Black pampers, or OWS funded by the SEIU. Arguably even the worse militia groups that are not Marxist oriented are basically loyal to the Constitution, and that is what the progressives fear.
So the progressives it appears are on a pre-emptive strike to discourage any grass roots militia type of gathering to defend the country from “Enemies Foreign and Domestic”.
Some brief background on the NCC (click NCC link):
From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
Profile: Institute For Policy Studies (IPS)
IPSs [Institute For Policy Studies] Washington, DC headquarters quickly became a resource center for national reporters and a place for KGB agents from the nearby Soviet embassy to convene and strategize. Cora Weiss headed one of the IPS's most successful forays -- into Riverside Church in Manhattan. She was invited there in 1978 by the Reverend William Sloane Coffin to run the church's Disarmament Program, which sought to consolidate Soviet nuclear superiority in Europe -- in the name of "peace." In 1982 Weiss helped organize the largest pro-disarmament demonstration ever held. Staged in New York City, the rally was attended by a coalition of communist organizations. During her decade-long tenure at Riverside, which became home to the National Council of Churches, Weiss regularly received Russian KGB agents, Sandinista friends, and Cuban intelligence agents. Weiss became infamous for her role in the psychological warfare conducted against U.S. prisoners of war held in the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" during the Vietnam War.
The Liberation News Service, which is a news source for hundreds of "alternative" publications nationwide (with antiwar, Marxist-oriented perspectives), was founded in 1967 with IPS assistance."

like always thank you for all that info.
The SPLC is a left wing radical group, many left overs from the hippy days and certainly a group who looks to shut most of us up and attacks any right wing view while promoting and or ignoring the radical left wing which look to kill, burn, blow up and calls for revolution.
The SPLC need to be closed down then the NAACP is another group which is a hate group.
Thanks for the info!
Of slaves and of pimps. Nowadays we psychologicaly PC pimp ourselves into sex slaves with gays and what not. THis is the basic suicide psychology of demoralization.
Anything else is going to be deemed a “hate group”. Of course OBama is the chief berry picking rapist and wolf amongst them, pushing for this against that behind the wall, and supporting the very destruction they claim the right and Bush has wielded on 911.
Communists basically support the destruction on 911 but say their hands are clean. Aha.
Let no one forget or become confused that these racial organizations that cite white hate groups are the ENEMY.
If we don’t treat them as such we will find ourselves slaves of their culture and completely stripped of the freedoms we once had.
Hate crimes (thought crimes) is the venue used to destroy the white society.
THEY ARE THE ENEMY...DON’T FORGET IT AND FIGHT BACK ANYWAY YOU CAN.
I don’t see Holder’s Justice Department on the map.
The entire Washington DC area is one big hate group.
