Why the Health Nazis are on the March
Canada Free Press ^ | May 10, 2012 | Selwyn Duke

They say “Jolly is the fat man,” but perhaps not when he’s being chased (and, I’m sure, caught) like a Frankenstein monster by the Body Cult crazies. And that is the case today, as it has become fashionable to affront the friendly-fronted.

It seems most anything goes now: bloated houses, bloated egos, bloated libidos, bloated bureaucracies, bloated government—except bloated bellies. And a perusal of the news makes this clear, with a never-ending stream of stories about obesity this and obesity that. For example, headlining Drudge the other day was a piece about how fathead officials in Massachusetts propose to ban school bake sales—even before and after school hours—to combat obesity. This, of course, is just the next step in a progression that has seen localities purge schools of cookies and sodas along with the faith and patriotism that was deemed unhealthful long before.

We also had the San Francisco Stupidvisors, who run the city (into the ground), who banned toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals. Deliciously, the restaurant chain circumvented the law by charging an extra ten cents for those who want the toy. I would’ve really rubbed the health Nazis’ noses in it and made it a penny.

This is one of the funniest articles I've read in a long time. And it has some good philosophy toward the end too.

Alcohol is just as life-threatening as being fat.

And, what about the gay life-style and the expense of treating AIDS.

And how about sitting on the beach for hours. Hello, skin cancer.

This is so much BS.

“The irony here is that the health Nazis would have had the overindulgent Ohio mother’s back if she’d ended her boy’s life in the womb. But merely increase the chances of shortening his life by feeding him too many Twinkies? You’re a derelict mother! “

It’s a power trip. If one is allowed to live, one must live as a slave to the dictates of the power elite who know best what is good for one.

Because Communism always ushers in a cratering of food production, and they need to start preparing the sheeple for it now.

1 Timothy 4:8

8 “...for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

I agree with Mr. Duke. This health craze is mostly driven by secularists. This life is all they have, so that’s why they worship beauty and health. These health nuts, who wax eloquently about all the elixirs, rare plants, etc. necessary to keep their bodies pure of saturated fat (shudder!), are the same folks pushing sodomy as normal and abortion as simple contraception.

OH Bull crap. I work out 6-7 days per week and really watch what I eat and this does not match me nor anyone I know who has the same healthy lifestyle as I do...and I know a bunch of people in the health/fitness industry.

If socialism collapses the economy, good luck finding all the rare foods and diet supplements the health nuts take religiously. Balanced diet? Ha! They’ll be glad (and lucky) to eat gruel. I’m sure the state will enact price controls to keep food affordable. Good luck finding any, eh?

(sorta like they intend to do with health care)

I was a weightlifter for the better part of twenty years. Because of my BMI, I am considered "morbidly obese".

Yeah... My waist-line has expanded a bit as I've gotten older, but I am more than strong enough to tear most of these pencil neck geeks in half with my bare hands. Literally.

And yet, I've got to sit here and listen to them try to take over one more aspect of our lives in their insatiable quest for more power.

Enough is enough. Either we stand here, or we back up and punt again. Just like we did with the smokers... Look how that turned out.

Everything you do in the way of diet, supplements and messing with things in your blood affects you.
Cut out the fats and oils and then you get dry skin, because you aren’t producing sufficient glycerin to moisturize the skin.
Lower your cholesterol and you affect vitamin D production (vitamin D is what happens when cholesterol is exposed to sunlight).
Take vitamin D supplements and they may create toxic buildups.
Go vegetarian and you may have bone and teeth problems.
Everything affects everything else.
Just use common sense.

I was writing generally. There are exceptions to every rule. It is one thing to take care of your body, but the health nuts take it well beyond that. To a Bible-believing Christian, spiritual health is more important. Frankly, it does no good to extend one’s life a year or two if one faces eternal damnation when one dies.

Additionally, I think there’s something abnormal about the relatively recent fixation on health. It’s strange that that focus is (generally) coming from the same folks who are pushing the homosexual agenda and abortion, both of which are unhealthy. I do agree many modern Christians seem to be caught up in this health craze. While they don’t (generally) buy into the left’s sacraments of sodomy and abortion, I think they would be better to focus on Christ.

I think you misunderstood his point. I didn't take the post to imply that every fitness buff (and I plead guilty to being one) is a food nazi. It took it to mean that these extremist food nazis are all ideologically driven humanists who are motivated by some extreme food purity mentality. They don't actually know or practice a healthy diet of moderation themselves but they see this as a way to further control others while at the same time patting themselves on the back for what a "good person" they are by helping those poor ignorant overweight people who just can't help themselves.

So? I have a different experience. I TAUGHT aerobics, I was a ballerina before kids and I say CitizenUSA is correct. Anecdotal evidence is not truth.

It is one thing to take care of your body, but the health nuts take it well beyond that.

The wac job people you talk about are maybe 1% of the people in the health industry and that is probably a high figure. And who cares anyway? I know people with many other hobbies that place their hobbies over God. Why the hate on people who talk care of themselves? Why are you picking on them?

To a Bible-believing Christian, spiritual health is more important. Frankly, it does no good to extend one’s life a year or two if one faces eternal damnation when one dies.

Isn't there parts in the Bible that talk about sloth and treating your body as a temple?

Additionally, I think there’s something abnormal about the relatively recent fixation on health. It’s strange that that focus is (generally) coming from the same folks who are pushing the homosexual agenda and abortion, both of which are unhealthy.

You are so wrong on this it's frightening. People have a "fixation" on health today due to the fact many know what an unhealthy eating lifestyle has done to them and their families and are sick of going through life fat/lack of energy/chronic health conditions it brings(fat).

I do agree many modern Christians seem to be caught up in this health craze. While they don’t (generally) buy into the left’s sacraments of sodomy and abortion, I think they would be better to focus on Christ.

Why not do both? (health and Christianity?)

Face it we have a serious health crisis in the country due to obesity.

A healthy lifestyle of proper diet, daily exercise & weight control is fine as long as it’s an individual’s choice.

And one doesn’t have to be a secularist. The Bible teaches that “your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit”.

However, I cringe whenever someone says, “I want to leave behind a good-looking corpse”. Ewwwww!!

I post on several large fitness sites and most people who really take care of themselves, eat right and work out, I have found tend to be middle of the road or conservative.

Except that you’re conflating two ve3ry different things. What was expressed here was not anecdotal evidence — it was philosophy. Note that no anecdotes were actually provided.

Also remember that we’re not talking here about people like you (necessarily), but those who get health so out of perspective that they seek to control others’ health. And then I also have to mention that you may be a victim of the phenomenon in question. Do you go to Church regularly? Do you think about and pray to God daily? When you do it tends to place physical health in greater perspective.

Besides, it seems like you’re feeling self-conscious, which would indicate that the poster his a nerve. Otherwise, why the emotional reaction?

Come on folks! Start thinking like a Democrat! They need more tax money to buy votes and mansions. The tobacco industry is their model. Food is bad, so we must tax it to pay for the health problems and reduce the consumption. Then, they use the tax money to buy votes and mansions. This is just another money-grab by the Democrats. They could care less about anyone’s health.

The author mentioned the temple of the soul. But I think you’re all missing the point. no one here is questioning the making of prudent health decisions. We’re talking about the obsession with health and fitness that many people today exhibit.

I was quoting two different posters. See the quotes and names after?

I’m the one who found my co-workers to be health worshipers. All I was saying was that My experience was different than another poster’s so neither of us are correct.
