Arizona high school forfeits championship game rather than face girl opponent
Fox News ^ | 5-10-2012 | Joshua Rhett Miller

A state championship high school baseball game is over before tonight's first pitch, after one Arizona team forfeited rather than play an opponent with a girl in the lineup.

Our Lady of Sorrows refused to play Mesa Preparatory Academy in Thursday’s scheduled Arizona Charter Athletic Association state championship game, because that team has Paige Sultzbach at second base. The 15-year-old agreed to sit out a pair of regular season victories over Our Lady of Sorrows, which is run by the Society of St. Pius X, an traditionalist church that broke away from Roman Catholic Church over Vatican reforms in 1970. But with everything on the line tonight, Sultzbach wasn't willing to stay glued to the bench — even if it means no game at all.

-snip-

In a statement to FoxNews.com, an Our Lady of Sorrows official said the school had no choice but to forfeit because it has a strict policy prohibiting participation in co-ed athletics and believes in "forming and educating boys and girls" separately.

“Teaching our boys to treat ladies with deference, we choose not to place them in an athletic competition where proper boundaries can only be respected with difficulty,” the statement read. "Our school aims to instill in our boys a profound respect for women and girls."

The idea that men and women are interchangeable cogs is Marxist. That’s why she’s out there. I would refuse to participate in teaching my sons that.

sticking to your principles makes no sense if your principles are stupid

My question to you is, who gets to decide which principles are stupid - the people that hold them or the mob?

We had a chick playing on our intramural basketball team in college in the early '70's.

We would put her in at low post whenever the opposing team made the mistake of going to a man-to-man defense. She had one move and we had one play for her. She would get the ball low with her back to the basket, the rest of us would head for the corners, taking the defenders away, she would fake one way while hooking the opposite leg behind the defender, go the other way, bounce the ball once heading to the basket and execute the most beautiful finger-roll spinning layup you have ever seen.

She was only good for about 3 buckets that way before the other team would figure out they needed to sink in to defend against her, but she provided the winning margin a number of times.

We all had a lot of respect for her and provided triple-damage to anybody who messed with her on or off the court.

They are taking a stand based upon their principles and accepting the consequences of their actions—taking it their forfeiture like men. Good for them.

Words mean things. How many boys play on the girls softball team?

Kudos

I think if the girls think they are man enough to get into the ring to compete with the guys then the guys should go out of their way to hurt them enough during competition to discourage any further competition. Once the word is out among the girls that any competition with the boys will only be met with being taught a lesson the girls will absolutely refuse to compete with them.

What does the school principle think of the team’s principals?

I never used the word wimpy, for the record, that was another poster.

I read that in the article as well, and I am left with the same question - what moral belief is being compromised?

A belief in forming and educating boys and girls separately doesn’t rise (IMHO) to the level of a moral belief. And playing a game against a team with a female 2nd basemen just doesn’t seem to negatively impact one’s profound respect for women and girls.

Again, JMO.

I think most Americans do not know that:

1) Utopian socialism in general and Marxism in particular are not just gravely mistaken economic theories. They are complete social ideologies, dedicated to overthrowing (fundamentally transforming, as 0bama put it) every aspect of civilisation. As such, no detail (not even children's sports) is too small or too insignificant for the utopians to attend. Destruction of the family and concentration of all power in the collective is more important to utopian socialism than command economics.

2) American society is already thoroughly infiltrated with utopian socialist thought.

I shake my head at the absolute primitivism posted on this thread (6, 19, and 31 for example). Hard to tell you folks apart from the radical islamists.

There's absolutely no case for you saying that about post #6. All he was being willing to take a loss because you won't compromise your long held principles is NOT cowardly, it's courageous. How can you disagree with that?

#19 is an interesting, articulate discussion of gender politics and history. Absolutely nothing "primitive" about it. The writer is very well-informed. You're free to disagree with her theory, but point out where you think she's wrong, don't just name call, unless you want the rest of us to know she won the argument against you by default.

Huh? Then why do they play in a boy/girl conference. That itself would compromise their own values.

My guess is that these schools are so small this is the only athletic type events around or size.

Now, those boys wont play, even though they knew this might happen.

an traditionalist church that broke away from Roman Catholic Church

This is false. The SSPX is not a separate church. Neither it nor its followers have broken away from the Catholic Church.

Men and women are not interchangeable cogs, as others have said. They are different. Boys should be taught to treat girls with respect.

Hard to tell you folks apart from the Marxists.

You are so correct and it’s apparent that cultural Marxism is popular thought among those who consider themselves Republicans. Despite popularity it is still destructive and I don’t see how any society can survive it.

Too much conditioning by the Socialist state, media, and academia of supposedly conservative bloggers on this thread.

Let's take the reverse argument and make all scholastic and collegiate sports co-ed; no more boys & girls and men's & women's teams. Males may play on the (formerly) female-only field hockey, tennis, golf, swimming, water polo, gymnastics, basketball, track, cross country, and softball teams. When individual males or teams with males as members begin winning all the state and national championships, how long will it take followers of the post-modern social construct to protest the unfairness of it all?

It *is* about destruction of the family and cultural norms that underpin our society and protect our divinely-received rights as defined and guaranteed in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and Federalist Papers. Girls are boys, boys are girls, women are men, men are women, good is evil, evil is good, there is no God, there are no God-given rights, only the state that dishes out privileges and goodies, and then takes them away when we've been bad.

At my HS, there were a couple of boys on the girls field hockey team. They had to wear the same uniforms, skirts and all. Exacerbating the situation was that both guys were slim and had fairly long hair.

More than once, opposing fans would say, "Hey, who's that, she's cute, etc etc etc". I (and others) would suggest that they go on over and talk to "her". LOL!

As for myself, there's NO WAY you'd get me to go out on a field holding a bunch of angry women armed with clubs. Talk about a disaster waiting for a place to happen.
