Perdue: 'We look like Mississippi' after amendment vote (NC Guvnah steps in it yet again!)

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Passage of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman makes North Carolina "look like Mississippi," Gov. Beverly Perdue said Friday.

Perdue was in Greenville as part of her tour to tout her proposed state budget for 2012-2013. The governor was responding to a question on the amendment from a reporter from WITN-TV in Washington (http://bit.ly/JptsXG ).

"I think it's wrong for North Carolina, clearly and simply," she said. "People around the country are watching us and they're really confused, to have been such a progressive, forward-thinking, economically driven state that invested in education and that stood up for the civil rights of people, including the civil rights marches back in the '50s and '60s and '70s.

"Folks are saying, 'What in the world is going on in North Carolina?' We look like Mississippi."

SSM is not NEARLY the same thing as IR marriage. Not even on the same planet.

"We look like Mississippi"

No, no, no Beverly. This makes you look like Nancy. Nancy Pelosi, that is.

It’s an insult to Blacks to equate the Civil Rights movement with the Sodomy Movement.

There are times that I even question Martin Luther King's tactics on civil rights, instead of the content of one's character....

Yeah, I don't think there's any flaw there. If MLK were able to take a look at the character of most of today's public figures, and society in general, I think he'd find them seriously lacking.

Never met a drecky gargoyle but if you say Perdue is one, I’ll take your word for it.

She’s such as tough POS that she wouldn’t even make a good Perdue Chicken Pot Pie. Perhaps a Chicken Potted Pie, but not much else.

How did she ever get elected? Did a “dumb bomb” go off on election day?

Now you know why we have to help the mentally ill - to keep them from getting elected to public office.

You ask, "Did a dumb bomb go off on election day?"

Yes, it did. She rode into town on Obama's coat tails in 2008 when Obama and the Chicago Mob pulled off a Coup de etat' and we lost our Democracy to a Thugocracy.

You really have to admire how Democrat politicians respect and stand up for their voters.

They really do hold us common folk in contempt, don't they?

Yes. We are gnats that can be squished at will and without a care. Not even a wave of the hand.

Just one problem for the elite, though. There are more of us than there are of them.

And we've got the vote.

Better Mississippi than Massachusetts!

Just maybe, the common people have an aversion to queers ... they just don’t get it.

do all those good things and do one more good thing: Keep marriage between one man and one woman. It’s not too hard.

There’s something trashy about a governor making such remarks about another state.

Apparently she is not worried about running for re-election.

Always in the best interest for the Pols to ‘dis’ their constituents.

Remember a few years back when that DA former speaker sued his constituents in WA(?) when they booted him. Think that was during Newt’s ‘reign of terror’ election in ‘94.

Interesting to find out that Lugar (GRTBR) no longer had a residence in Indiana whom he has been representing for the last 50 years (give or take).
Don’t suppose he and his family voted in BOTH homes of record do you?

Definitely has to be the reason ‘they’ over ran us with the wide ranged Absentee Voting, so people who have residences in multiple states can vote in all of them....

Ain’t it grand???

Missippy ping!

I wish Oregon looked more like Mississippi.

Oh.....wait............they do!

They voted 57% - 43% to define marriage as one women and one man, and they put it in their constitution!

How does this happen?

Hell, I was born/raised in Rochester NY and came to Mississippi in 1986 with the Air Force. 28 years later and it’s my home and I consider this moron’s attempt at a slur a badge of honor for Mississippi.
