Obama's Bain ad: 'Like watching an old friend bleed to death' (BARF!!)
Politico ^ | 5-14-12 | Alexander Burns

Posted on 05/14/2012 9:30:32 AM PDT by tcrlaf

The Obama campaign's 2-minute ad on Mitt Romney's Bain Capital is record is out, and it is brutal.

Targeting Romney's involvement in the acquistion of GST Steel, the commercial shows workers at a shuttered plant pinning Romney and Bain with the blame.

“They made as much money off it as they could and they closed it down, they filed for bankruptcy, without any concern for the families or the communities,” says Joe Soptic, a former steelworker. “It was like watching an old friend bleed to death.”

The spot directly contrasts the steelworkers' testimonials with Romney's words touting his business experience, showing the Republican saying "I know how business works. I know why jobs come and why they go" and "As I look around at the millions of Americans without work, it breaks my heart."

There's a longer version of the video at RomneyEconomics.com. Your move, Romney campaign

This is what passes for "Reporting" these days...

No mention that when Bain came in, this company had TWO mills, the other in Ft Wayne, Indiana,(non-Union), that is STILL OPERATING TODAY, thanks to Bain and it’s investments.

NO MENTION that the KC mill was already facing closure because the nearly-bankrupt GS couldn’t afford to upgrade either mill to new EPA pollution standards.

NO MENTION that the reason GS was almost bankrupt when Bain came in was because the RADICAL STEELWORKERS UNION wild-catted so often, that customers could not be assured of timely order delivery, and found other sources.

NO MENTION that this plant was only capable of making two types of products, both in usage decline, while the radical union demanded ever more money, ever more paid days off, and ever more expensive benefits.

Just pimp the already-debunked Obama campaign-approved line, willingly, without DARING to question it.

ALL HAIL THE GAY MESSIAH! (or the IRS will visit you)

“They made as much money off it as they could and they closed it down, they filed for bankruptcy, without any concern for the families or the communities . . . ”

Nice, compelling narrative. Now, maybe Romney needs to use it and find some former Solyndra employees to cut an ad for him.

Or auto dealers and their employees closed so GM and Chrysler unions could make out like bandits.

Or their suppliers with non-UAW employees.

Or the millions laid off or forced to retire early since ObaMao ascended to the throne.

At least, back in the era when this mill closed, people could actually get alternative employment. And most of them did.

LOL. Breitbart nailed this one. Romney was long gone and it was an OBAMA DONOR who laid off the likely future OBAMA VOTERS.

It's pollutico. Nuff said. Better analysis here:

Obama’s Already Debunked Attack Ad on Romney and Bain

On May 4, in response to a similar attack, the Post wrote:

Notice a problem with the last two examples? The outsourcing occurred in 2000 and 2001. Romney left Bain in early 1999.

RE :”Good catch, SOL.

Thanks

By now you should know that I fully anticipate some things that I know will happen,
That way I dont have to flip my principles around 180 degrees every 6 months or so like some others do.

Hey Barack!

How many tens of thousands of people did you layoff with your GM and Chrysler takeover?

Of course, they were only the non-union, Republican dealerships around the country, that you robbed to pay off your union thug, friends.

Never mind that you violated established legal precidence by trashing bond holder’s priority financial interest and simply transferring private property to these same union thugs.

Worth a repost.

Good point, especially closing the dealerships. I thought of this while eating breakfast watching Morning Joe but then forgot about it.

Republicans wont use it anyway.

We are going about the defense of Romney at Bain backwards.

Two truths:

1) Romney was in a rough, cutthroat business at Bain. The only way that business works is if you are a hard-assed SOB.

2) If you are a hostage being held by terrorist, you want someone to send in the marines (a bunch of hard-assed SOBs) and get you the **** out of there.

It’s going to take a hard-nosed SOB to right the economy.
