The United States is leading what it described as the "largest military exercises in the Middle East in 10 years" in Jordan on Tuesday.
Eager Lion 2012 is the largest exercise held in the region in the past ten years, Major General Ken Tovo, head of the US Special Operations Forces, told reporters in Amman.
Yesterday we began to apply the skills that we have developed over the last weeks in an irregular warfare scenario They will last for approximately the coming two weeks, he added.
The message that I want to send through this exercise is that we have developed the right partners throughout the region and across the world insuring that we have the ability to meet challenges that are coming to our nations, Tovo said.
Over 12,000 soldiers are taking part in the war games, representing 19 countries, including Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Australia.

“Israel Not Invited to NATO’s Chicago Summit”

FYI
I suspect they have a more pressing engagement elsewhere..
I read that report also and can only say: Damn...WTF...Oh crap...and edited. The Kenyan capt is taking the good ship America down.
While they are all doing ‘the exercises’ together, Israel will take care of the Iran business.
Take note of the close proximity of these war drills by significantly islamic countries (except for Austrailia...) to the up and coming Russian war drills in Colorado.
Makes me think of Psalm 2, Matthew 22:44 and Revelation 5:5.
The list, Ping

An enemy which shielded Bin Laden is invited. But our biggest ally in the region is excluded. Absolutely despicable. I don't know how I could serve in good conscience today. Glad I did so under decent presidents.
This sounds like a joint effort by 7 Community Colleges to launch a satellite using a giant sling shot.
US Leads Major War Drill in Jordan Israel Not Invited
Nineteen nations are conducting the ‘largest military exercises in the Middle East in 10 years’ in Jordan
*snip*
Over 12,000 soldiers are taking part in the war games, representing 19 countries, including Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Australia.
Jordanian army operations and training chief Major General Awni Adwan said the military exercise has been in the planning phase for the past three years.
No forces will be deployed north the exercise is not connected to any real world event, Adwan said when asked if the war games were related to the ongoing violence in Jordans northern neighbor Syria.
“This has nothing to do with Syria. We respect the sovereignty of Syria. There is no tension between the Syrians and us. Our objectives are clear, Adwan said.
Israel despite having extensive security agreements with Jordan was not invited to participate in the exercises. Several Arab nations participating in the drill are still formally at war with the Jewish state.
Washington has granted Amman $2.4 billion in military and economic aid in the past five years, according to official figures.

Eager Lion 2012
The United States and Jordan will conduct Exercise Eager Lion 2012 from May 7 to May 28.
The exercise brings together more than 12,000 participants from more than 15 countries over five continents. Its focus is to strengthen military-to-military relationships of participating partner nations through a joint, whole-of-government, multinational approach.

So Israel is off the list as a ‘participating partner nation’ now? How transparently, intentionally obama. Lord, bless and protect Israel and her people.
Maybe there is a military reason Israel is excluded so obviously, I don’t have a clue, but things look to be heating up terribly in Syria, with repercussions for the whole region. We just keep praying the authentic warriors for peace are making the decisions ....

Another indication of the tensions generated by Syrias descent into chaos came early this month when Israels military called up six reserve battalions to serve on the borders of Egypt and Syria. They also obtained parliamentary permission to summon another 16 other reserve battalions if necessary.
Israeli military officials are closely tracking events in Syria. They fear the sudden collapse of Mr. Assads regime could result in groups affiliated with al-Qaeda trying to seize control of the Golan Heights.
There are fears prolonged conflict in Syria could drag the Middle East into a new round of terrorism and ethnic and religious strife.
Fighting spilled over into Tripoli, Lebanon, this week, where eight people have died in three days of sectarian gunfights between groups supporting different factions in Syria.
The threat of a wider terrorist campaign surfaced in Damascus last week, when two car bombs exploded outside a police intelligence office, killing 55 people and wounding 300 more.
The car bombs drove home the point that the insurgency is getting more lethal and capable all the time, said Joshua Landis, a Syrian expert at the University of Oklahoma.
Damascus must worry about becoming more like Baghdad and Kabul.
