RNC, Romney campaign will erect new organization to bypass state GOP
Las Vegas Sun ^ | May 16, 2012 | May 16, 2012

“They are still bogged down in the minutiae of whether Romney will be the presumptive nominee,” scoffed a GOP strategist familiar with the details of the restructuring. “We don’t have time for that when the Obama campaign already is in full campaign mode. We have no use for them (the state GOP).” ... To distill, the GOP insider said, “Essentially we’re setting up a shadow state party.”

The liberal socialist partisan media just LOVES to breathlessly quote from their favorite sources..... UNAMED of course "blah, blah, blah..." Personally I call them out to be full fledged liars if they can't even name or identify who it is that they are quoting. It's about time that the RNC and the Willard campaign start to attack & discredit these "Unamed source" stories. They are bogus from the very start.

Considering the behavior of the Scumney campaign so far, I’d say its probably accurate.

Romney is a ruthless SOB, I’ll give him that. Which in the end, just might be a good thing. Because that’s what it will take against the Kenyan.

Exactly! Unklike the milquetoast campaign of John McCain.

Weren't there a couple states this year which held primaries and then changed their rules after the fact so that delegate counting and apportionment ended up going to Romney, even though initial expectations indicated that Santorum or someone else might have deserved more delegates?

I have an ugly feeling that GOP's starting position was: Romney wins -- now, let's figure out how to count things to make that happen; and, oh by the way, if anyone doesn't play along, we'll just ignore them, and set up a shadow infrastructure that allows us to get the results we want.

Both the Democrats and the Republicans are acting like this is a Third World country. And maybe we are.

I am not rooting for Willard. He needs to lose. Obama as President is better because it makes no difference whether Hussein is the President or Willard is the President. Both will cause equal amount of damage. Obamacare = Romneycare and Willard is against cutting spending.

However, a loss by Willard would mean that the RINO grip on the GOP has weakened. I am all for that. Murkowski showed that the GOP establishment will NOT vote for the Tea Party candidate in the main election. There is no reason the Tea Party should not return the favor to the establishment RINOs.

Michigan.

The Michigan Republican Party (MRP) Credentials Committee voted 4-2 last night to give Mitt Romney both of the state's at-large delegates, State Policy Committee Chair Mike Cox told MIRS today.

Cox was one of two "no" votes on the committee which met via telephone, along with attorney Eric Doster The "yes" votes included GOP National Committeeman Saul Anuzis, a Romney supporter, and MRP Chair Bobby Schostak.

That would put the delegate split at 16 for Romney and 14 for Rick Santorum, after each candidate won 14 delegates apiece in those divided by Michigan's 14 congressional districts.

As MIRS first reported on Wednesday, the MRP was delaying a final decision on the delegate split until after consulting with attorneys.

Cox said that according to the MRP rules, Santorum and Romney should each get one of Michigan's two at-large delegates based on their take of the popular vote.

"I supported Mitt, but the vote was clearly wrong," Cox said of the Credentials Committee. "It's kind of like Third World voting. We published rules and then we voted to change the rules."

That's fine. I'd be all for setting up a shadow party at every level, and even having a shadow presidential campaign (with somebody other than Romney).

I would be on board with what you are saying, if it was say, Clinton.....but the Kenyan has got to go, by hook or by crook.

Thanks! That’s definitely what I was struggling to remember. I’m not sure, but I think there may have been an additional instance of similar behavior in another state.

I don't see Romney winning anyway despite the echo chamber shouts of agreement. That said, people need to get out there and vote anyway. Vote for Romney, 3rd parties, or write ins, but get to the polls and pump up the numbers in those more important down ticket races.

Virgil Goode will be on the ballot here in Michigan so that makes me feel a little better about it.

No. The RINOs have to go and that is more important. Willard = White Hussein. So I don't care if Hussein is the president as long as good candidates win the House and Senate seats. It is more important to save the GOP. Handing it back to the RINOs will make things worse.

The GOP already has the House, so if they keep it, what makes you think they’ll get rid of Boner as Speaker?

Uh oh, that sort of thinking is a little too deep for some FReepers. Be prepared for a bunch of Romney flacks to come on this thread with their "Aha! So you admit you support Obama! go back to Democratic Underground!!!!" line.

Nevertheless, thinking conservatives need to consider whether there may actually be something to the nothing that a Republican Congress with Obama as President may not be better than a Republican Congress with Romney as President. The GOPers will fight Obama. They won't fight Romney. With Romney as President, expect them to go along with every new spending plan, every new expansion of government. And I will bet you dollars to donuts that Romney will NOT do away with the Czars and other obamaist overreaches if he's elected. And further, when he doesn't, many "conservatives" here on FR will find excuses for why we really do need those Czars.

Ultimately, at the Presidential level, this election is a wash. It's securing CONSERVATIVES in CONGRESS that we need to focus on.

Does Romney plan on being a one-term President?

If not, he’d better make damn sure he keeps GOP voters happy.

A lame duck Obama will have no such worries.

That bet is a bit rich for my blood. At this point, you can’t count on the Senate turning Republican. On the other hand, I’m more confident than ever that Romney will run a campaign totally unlike McCain.

If Obama remains in the Presidency, it won’t matter if we win the Senate. We will die of a 1000 cuts administered by Executive Orders issued every week.
