California employers trimmed their April payrolls by 4,200 jobs last month, snapping a string of eight straight months of employment growth.
The unemployment rate declined last month to 10.9% from 11% in March, but only because discouraged workers left the labor force, according to figures released Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Californias unemployment rate remains well above the national rate of 8.1%. Only two states have higher unemployment rates than California: Nevada (11.7%) and Rhode Island (11.2%).

Yep it`s the Obama economy, falling unemployment rates...LOL
The unemployment rate is based on surveys. Clinton lowered the unemployment rate during his administration by having the Dept of Labor stop doing surveys in inner-cities. I’m curious what Obama has changed in this regard.
Now’s the time to raise taxes on businesses and drive the remainder out of the state. Then we change the state bird to the frisbee, the state flag to the rainbow and the state song to kumbayah. OK everyone, a group hug. Pass the bong over this way please.....
Really? I'm curious as to any statement he's uttered, or his administration has publicized, that has been the truth or even had a hint of truth in it.
So......11% of Californians are dips? I would have thought it was higher than that. Not that I have anything against dips.....guacamole is sehr gut!
Whoopi looks like she should change her name to Kissmyass Goldberg. Is she hiding the bird with her left hand?
Well, this should help the unemployment rate. /s
