Gee golly, tough guy. Struck a nerve, did I?

A. I AM a vet.

B. Three of my sons are vets, including one awarded a Bronze Star. They weren’t raised to be bullies, but they sure as hell stood up for themselves. Still do.

C. Tell me how my stance here makes me a “coward”, slick. Please....do tell. If standing up for yourself (and since you’re a tad slow, I’ll repeat what I said above more than once: you never saw me state that “standing up for yourself” equated to “throwing hands”. There are better, more effective ways....so get off the Jesus-turn-the-other-cheek-nonviolence-is-the-only-way crap. He, as well, knew when to take a stand (forgot the story of the moneychangers in the Temple, did ya?).

D. This has ZIP to do with vets with PTSD. That is very real, and watching buddies blown to bits in front of you, or seeing kids maimed and mutilated by mindless Muzzies, or enduring IED threats for months on end......don’t EVEN try to tell me that’s the same as Billy Joe Bubba Smith giving you a power-wedgie. Good Lord.....

E. Don’t ever try to physically threaten me via this forum or any other manner again. I don’t like it, it’s petty, and you damned sure wouldn’t say that to my face.

Have a nice day.

My solution has been to kill every single person I meet.

"Today, the internet bullying enters into the equation. It’s not really a matter of fighting a good fight. That is in addition to assasination on the internet. Young children hang themselves over this."

"I may get hammered for saying this but I believe it to be true, kids are not free today to grow up on their own."

I went to school long before there was an Internet, true. However, I've raised 7 kids in the "Internet era". Short answer: if someone's being a jerk to you online, it couldn't be easier: delete it, get off that page and don't read it, log off. It's like watching TV: If you don't like what you see, change the channels or turn it off. Kids hang themselves over "cyber-bullying" because they lack self confidence, self esteem; in short, they have zip for a self-image. That....is primarily the job of their parents to impart to them. Now I'LL get hammered for saying that. Just watch.

As for you "getting hammered for saying this....", not from me, you won't. You make a great point. All we can really do as parents is do our level best to prepare our kids for what they will face "in the world" and pray that A) it "took", and B) the Good Lord looks after them.

I'd have considered that, but not sure I could buy enough ammo. Plastic tableware just doesn't cut it, I found (no pun intended).

Do like China. Have them buy the bullet you shoot them with.

"My reply was a comment to the pompous knuckledragger who called everyone who's been bullied and intimidated a coward."

LOL.....A) I'm sure as hell not pompous... B) I'm certainly no "knuckledragger"....and C) Show me ONE place in this or any other thread where I "called everyone who's been bullied and intimidated a coward." Go ahead. I'll wait.

"There are seriously screwed up kids out there because these monsters have attacked their very right to self-defense..."

Whoa there, hoss.......hold the phone. First, this may shock you, but I agree with your point here completely...BUT...you can't have it both ways. You JUST bolstered my original point, and you put it clearly in writing.

Kids should either stand up and, when necessary, defend themselves as YOU just stated.....or they should turn the other cheek. Which is it? Pick a side, any side.....but pick ONE.

An important parenting lesson can be thrown in there, when your kid comes to you about this: Their opinion of you is NONE of your business.

Amen, bro. When we were kids, what was it we were always told? “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!”

Guess kids don’t hear that much these days.

And that’s wonderful for someone that strong at a young age. I was already being beaten down at home. Therefore, I also had no one to step in with the school as some here are advocating or suggesting. My parents’ advice (my father’s really) was to suck it up. Well, a young girl doesn’t always have the courage, mental or physical, to do so. This was especially ironic advice coming from the person who was doing the mental and physical beating down at home.

I’m not that same scared person as back then, but I am not where I could be or might have been either.

Best Peanuts comic strip: Charlie Brown standing there, and off-panel a few comments are coming at him: "BLOCKHEAD" "HAHAHAHAH" "WHAT A BLOCKHEAD"

Panel two, Charles is yelling "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me!"

Panel three: Charlie Brown upside down and sticks and stones are flying all around him.

Re: Bullying. It’s different now. And there are so many more ways to do it what with the new media and social networking. The idea that some defenceless kids can just man up and their problems will go away is rubbish. That bumper sticker mentality of “get over it” is nonsense. We had a bunch of thugs beat a kid to death after a bus ride here in San Antonio a few years back. So please shut up about just being John Wayne. We’ve entered new territory as a country and society and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Some kids live in an environment of terror on a daily basis; they deserve our sympathy and protection.

Interesting....you really aren't seeing it? It says:

"A. I AM a vet.

B. Three of my sons are vets, including one awarded a Bronze Star. They weren’t raised to be bullies, but they sure as hell stood up for themselves. Still do.

C. Tell me how my stance here... (etc., etc., etc.)

The best way to stop bullying is to drive a really cool car to school. And buy the beer on saturday nights.
