Teens Accused of Trying to Rob Postal Worker in Detroit (Hood in Hoodie)

DETROIT (WJBK) -- Police say a man and his friend are in a lot of trouble for what they did to a Detroit postal worker.

"Our postal carrier was in his vehicle, and two African-American males approached him. One had a gun," said Wiley Christopher with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The incident happened on May 1 around the same time you would expect to see a lot of government checks and food stamps in the mail.

Police say the guys didn't get away with anything, but there is still an award for information leading to an arrest.

"We find it unacceptable for anybody to try to rob any of our letter carriers. This is a federal offense, and our agency is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that has information that leads to the arrest and the conviction," Christopher said.

The suspects are 17 and 18 years old. One of them has a slim build, about 5'8" to 5'10" and around 150 pounds.

Police say the two men were last seen running down an alley to get into a black Ford Crown Victoria.

Anyone with information should call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455.

Too bad the postal worker didn’t stand his ground and open fire.

The suspects are 17 and 18 years old.

That's written as if it's a fact and if a fact then they have to know the names. If they know the names then why weren't they published?

Oh, now they’re preying on themselves! Delightful! Stealing their mamas’ government checks and foodstamp debit cards! If there are many more of these attempted robberies on the postal service, maybe the inner cities will get the attention they deserve.

Now, that there is weird. My father in law was a letter carrier in the Boston Mass area and he told me he felt perfectly safe in “the projects.”

You see, he brought the checks so everyone had an interest in his wellbeing. Some thug messes with the mailman and the neighbors would mess up the thug.

He retired 20+ years ago. I guess things have changed...

Anyone else they don’t care so much about. But a government worker? Don’t go there! That is the most valuable human life.

Oh, we live in a zoo and all the animals are on the loose.

Hmmm, I suspected that it would only be a matter of time before Hot Tabasco spiraled in and crashed.

He, and a few others, repeatedly edged closer and closer, dancing around the flame, until .....Zot!

Sad to watch, and so totally unnecessary.

If someone came into my house and did nothing but insult me, carp about the way I care for my cats, annoy my other guests with senseless, petty, repetitious arguments, and white-glove my horizontal surfaces, I’d toss ‘em out too.

Long before Jim (courtesy ping) did, as well.

Just sayin’.
