Ted Cruz wont go to the U.S. Senate to get along in the U.S. Senate, the candidate told Gregg County Republicans on Wednesday in Longview.
We need to draw a line in the sand, the Republican told some 40 party members, after recalling a Dallas Morning News editorial panel asking about the need for compromise in Washington, D.C.
At this point, I literally laughed out loud, Cruz said. If youre looking for an established moderate who will go to Washington and work across the aisle and compromise, and continue this spending and building the debt deeper ... Im not the guy.
Considered likely to wind up in a runoff with front-runner Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the race to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Cruz is touring the state touting tea party credentials. Hes focusing remarks on Dewhurst, who in recent weeks has aimed a barrage of attack ads at Cruz.
All three of the other (leading) candidate are spending their time attacking me, he said.
Cruz, Dewhurst, Tom Leppert and Craig James lead a field of nine hoping to win the Republican nod on May 29. The winner will face one of four Democrats.
While in Longview, Cruz also mock-praised the Houston Chronicles endorsement of Dewhurst as someone who can work across the aisle.
I actually, for once in my life, agree with the Chronicle, he said. If thats what you want, Dewhurst is your guy. But, I think the stakes are too high for that. ... Theres never been a time when we had a greater need for (strong conservatism) in Washington.
Cruz pointed to grassroots support evidenced in his $5.2 million campaign chest created by more than 19,000 contributions. He contrasted that with the 2,500 contributions needed to build Dewhurst a $5.6 million war chest.

Just for the record...The Cruz endorsement came from George P. Bush, Jeb’s son who is a real estate developer in Austin.(not W. or HW, unless you have a source that states otherwise.)
But I’m sure that’s what you meant.
Are you talking about the lawyer George P. Bush up in Dallas? Same feller?
The seat you hope to fill with Dewhurst is not only a Texas senate seat but one of 100 who make laws and approve Supreme Court Justices for the whole USA! Your choices effect each and every one of us! Not just you!
I’m not good a posting links..but here goes...

Do you have a link for any other Bush endorsement?
I’m always interested in new info.
“Do you have a link for any other Bush endorsement?

No, I don’t. I am always interested in new info too. Do you know if Ted Cruz taught George P. Bush while both were at UT Law School? Not that it would mean all that much.
Me too I voted Cruz. Not so thrilled that hes a lawyer.
Yet you support Rinaldi?
*chuckle* I know that you know Cruz didn’t go to UT. I did take the time to look up where GP Bush went to school. He went to Rice. Even if they went to the same school, they are very close in age so the only thing they could have taught each other is how to pull up their pampers.
At the risk of being redundant, as I posted in #22 that you never really answered, Dewhurst went to college in Arizona.
So what? As you said, it really doesn’t mean much.
(Sorry it took me so long to answer. I just hate when work gets in the way of my life, lol.)
