With the lists of individuals wanted for links to terrorism by the Saudi Interior Ministry, it becomes clearer and clearer that Jihadist and Takfiri ideology has infiltrated the minds of the youth, minds of men of various ages, backgrounds, and social class.

The surprise that came with the most recent list of 85 came with regards the 50th name on the list; the journalist Obaida Abdul-Rahman Al Otaibi.

Regarding "Obaida Abdul-Rahman Al Otaibi"

AKA "Abdul Rahman Fayad Al-Otaibi" AKA "Abdulrahman Al-Ruwais Al-Otaibi"

I offer this 2 year old article as it is the only media report on Al Otaibi so far.

He comes from the prominent and wealthy Al-Ruwais family of Al-Suwaidi district in west Riyadh and has deep contacts with the Saudi upper class.

I posted it for background and to report on his change of status to that of deceased. He was killed recently in Afghanistan.

What is notable is his very effective use of media for al Qaeda. As a journalist for Al Jazeera he had deep contacts and considerable media and internet knowledge.

Wealthy and connected Saudi's like Al Otaibi fund Al Qaeda, find wealthy recruits and use their education and knowledge of Western society to pose deep threats of terrorism.

Those like him are the new face of Al Qaeda and it will be much harder to counter their influence.
