I believe Jefferson was a regular church goer, I forget which Christian church he was a member of, you can look it up and join them, to start attending.
Most conservatives identify with the intense Christianity of the Founders, both those in leadership, and among the rest of the founding American public and rank and file Americans.
Mormonism was created when many of the Americans from 1787 were still alive, and Mormonism was treated as the cult it is.
