East St. Louis native Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, parents of Trayvon Martin, and Trayvons older brother Jahvaris Fulton, will speak in East St. Louis (IL) on May 25th. The family will address the public during the STOP THE VIOLENCE NOW THE SENSELESS USE OF GUNS MUST CEASE: We Refuse to Remain Hostage to Crime!!! Bi-state Youth & Community Rally, set for noon at North End Missionary Baptist Church, located at 463 N. 88th St. in East St. Louis.
Tracy Martin, graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School (1986), and Sybrina Fulton were thrust into the national spotlight when they tragically loss their son Trayvon to gun violence on Feb. 26.
All concerned Metro East and Greater St. Louis area community members can join Tracy, Sybrina and Jahvaris on Friday afternoon to take a stand against violence. Most fittingly, family members of Trayvon Martin will use the urban backdrop of East St. Louis to speak against violence and to plead with local youth to stop using guns senselessly.
Martin and Fulton say that they understand the heartache associated with the sudden loss of a child and want to encourage community members of Tracys hometown to remain vigilant against crime. As parents, they want to join Jahvaris in pleading with local youth to STOP THE VIOLENCE NOW, and to urge them to find other ways to solve their differences.
This free event is spearheaded by community activist Stephanie A. Miles, in cooperation with Metro-East Parent Connection and The IVPA E. St. Louis Safety Net Works (SNW) Coalition. It is supported by concerned citizens and groups, including Better Family Life and the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority (IVPA).
"We are in this together," stated Miles, "And we are thrilled that Tracy, Sybrina and Jahvaris are standing their ground in East St. Louis against violence and the senseless use of guns. While national TV programs such as Saturday Night Live laugh and poke fun at cities like East St. Louis, children and young adults in our urban communities are dying, and moms and dads are grieving. Its not funny. Future preachers, teachers, doctors and lawyers are lying in the streets. Like Tracy Martin and his family, our community agrees that the senseless use of guns must cease. We dont have to accept things the way that they are.
Apparently momma hasn't seen the videos of Tray and the street fights he promotes.
If only Zimmerman used a knife instead of a gun, all this race baiting would have never started. /s
It is unfortunate Trayvon’s parents didn’t spend the time raising and guiding their son while he was alive they seem to have now available to perpetuate his memory. Their son was suspended from school yet they chose to indulge in their own priorities instead of staying home and supervising their truant son. Had the family been at home sharing a meal with their son, Trayvon would not have been running around the neighborhood hungry seeking Skittles and Arizona tea. Instead the father was out to dinner with his live in fiancé and the mother was off somewhere doing her thing.
Need we forget, the father and girlfriend arrived home that night and were apparently not concerned that Trayvon wasn’t at home. The father went to bed and didn’t call the police until the middle of the next morning to report his son missing. Am I the only person left in America believing a parent has responsibility for monitoring the behavior and whereabouts of his/her minor children, particularly when a child’s behavior has been bad enough to warrant a ten day suspension from school?
No you are not. Most people agree with you.
However when Al & Jessie enter they NEVER mention that. It is always the White person who is at fault. Never the black or his/her parents.
Something isn't quite right....I'm sure the cops were on the scene for hours. Daddy had to clean up his act. Momma and daddy had to collaborate.
And it was 3 weeks before this got into the news!!!!
The girlfriend has disappeared and momma and daddy are shakin that old money tree like they went to preachin' school.
—Martin's Mom.
What else can she say that ain't dishonest?
I wonder how many attendees will be shot during or after the “anti-gun-violence” rally. The average for these events seems to be about 4, with more if there’s hip-hop entertainment.
Good point, the vast majority of black violent deaths are because of other blacks.
Until they admit it and earnestly plead for order and respect in their own community, their cries are false and misleading, if their is “racism” in this country, it seems that blacks hate blacks.
"Urban back drop"? Think Detroit, only on a much smaller scale. East St. Louis, Illinois is small, with a population of 28,753 and separated by a large river, from St. Louis, Mo.
Jumbo shrimp
They are mad because someone stopped him from eating skittles, distributing poison love drugs and of bashing someone’s head freely because it felt good to beat an hispanic and getting away with it.
Damn it, it feels good to be a gangster, without pesky guns around that hampers progressism towards sustainable humane cannibalism.
East St. Louis? Give me a break.
Anti-gun?
Tell that to the Koreans in Los Angeles, lady.

Who's paying for all this, I wonder? Is this a new job for this pair? Gotta end sometime -- or maybe they will be able to parlay it into a permanent anti-gun sinecure, like the Bradys, eh?
Benjamin Crump, Al & Jessie. There is a picture from the LA appearance with Al Sharptongue handing them trash cans.... boggles the mind.
