GATES COUNTY, N.C.
Two brothers who police say were trying to rob a store were shot and killed by the owner Tuesday night.
According to Gates County Sheriff Edward Webb, the armed men entered the Joppa store at Acorn Hill and Hinton roads around 6 p.m.
Webb said one stuck a rifle in the owner's face and told him to go to the cash register. Then the owner was struck in the back of the head and knocked to the floor, where he was stomped on and kicked.
Despite bruises to his chest and back, in addition to the injury to his head, the owner was able to grab a gun he had under the counter, Webb said. He shot one of the brothers, then shot the other as he tried to run away. Both died nearby.
Webb said the brothers were from Perquimans County and that one was 17 and the other 19.
The store owner was identified by the sheriff as Duanne Ammann.
Webb said he thought the brothers had been dropped off at the store by a third party, whom police are seeking.
They were potential KILLERS who were not up to snuff; not great kids, not bubbaball stars and not up and coming scholars, they were petential killers who did not make the grade. Good riddance.
So at some point, he took a shot at the clerk and tried to kill him. ZERO sympathy for the victims.
"If everybody would put that situation in their lap, and think as they were the parent of those two kids, they would think different," said Sandra Felton, the suspects' cousin.
CORRECTION: "If everybody would put that situation in their lap, and think as they were the parent of those two kids CLERK, they would think different," said Sandra Felton, the suspects' cousin.
Too bad Ms. Felton can't see it that way.....
Guess the schools let anyone on the honor roll anymore.
Two perps who were urged to be outlaws by Obama’s thuggishness and by Obama’s hate speech.
“He hand was torn when the gentleman snatched the weapon ....”
“Unfortunately they’re just two young men that did something very uncalled for,”
“Gentleman” “uncalled for”? Don’t feel like writing or otherwise indicating curse words this early in the AM so, what can I say...
Good shooting!Evidently, this gentleman has got some”range-time”under his belt!!
I disagree with this. They weren't "potential" criminals. They were full blow actual criminals - felons - and they deserved what they got. I don't see any grief counseling or any sympathy for the real victim in this crime in any of these articles - the clerk who was being robbed was the victim here not the young a..hole thugs who got exactly what they deserved.
They went looking for trouble, and they found it. Good riddance. Good shooting, Mr. Ammann...you've probably saved the lives of others by removing this from the gene pool.
Yes, but the waste occurred when they decided on a career of armed robbery, not when they were killed during the commission of multiple felonies. The killing of these thugs early in their careers was a possible (and desirable) outcome based on their career choice.
WOO-HOO! Day off!
Not Quinton and Eddie. They were good boys. Aspiring rappers, getting their GED, supported their kids, good to their grandmother, got in with the wrong crowd, made a mistake.....
You’ll get no argument from me. Indeed they were “journeymen” criminals.
“Parents” assumes they know who their baby daddy is.
Baby daddy is probably in another state with another baby momma, or in prison.
Good post Dan. I found a picture of the General Store and it is a classic Carolina Country Store w/ a couple of fuel pumps and the screen doored entrance off a lonely country lane. The owner is one brave proprietor. The County is about 1/3 Black so it is on the cusp of becoming really, really dangerous for the majority! The crime rate in E. NC is structurally very high.
The second article says the defender was crouched down, getting beaten from behind, when he grabbed his hidden pistol and fired over his shoulder, striking his attacker fatally in the stomach.
Lucky shot! The angels were riding on his shoulder, aiming that blaster!
Luck, providence, skill, perhaps a combo of all three, I'm glad it turned out good for him.
Dey wuz jus startin’ to get they lifes turned aroun.
"I'm going to say it like I see it: Quinton and Eddie Felton were hunted down like rabid dawgs. They were shot in the skreet. They were racially profiled. They were just in da sto to buy some skittles and ice tea. We demand that the store owner is arrested for murdering these two young chillun'!!! These self-defense laws are rasis!"
“If everybody would put that situation in their lap, and think as they were the parent of those two kids, they would think different,” said Sandra Felton, the suspects’ cousin.
No, Sandra. “Everybody” would not.
The parents ought to have taught their selfish little spawn about NC Castle Doctrine law.
