Why Jeremiah Wright Matters — Still
FrontPage Magazine ^ | May 24, 2012 | Larry Elder

Posted on 05/24/2012 4:23:13 AM PDT by SJackson

In the 1967 comedy “A Guide for the Married Man,” Joey Bishop’s wife catches him in bed with another woman. As his wife stands at the bedroom door screaming at the sight, Bishop and the mistress calmly get up, make the bed and get dressed. The mistress leaves. Bishop nonchalantly sits down in the living room, lights up a pipe, picks up the newspaper and casually leafs through it. “What bed? What girl?” Bishop says. The wife begins to doubt her own eyes, even her sanity. Finally, she turns to Bishop and meekly asks what he wants for dinner. The culprit convinced the victim that she must be nuts.

On the issue of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s defenders attempt to make you feel insane. How could you bring up the Rev. Jeremiah Wright?! It “injects race” into the contest! Obama supporters warn, “After four years, how dare you ‘re-litigate’ the matter!”

In fact, it was never “litigated” in the first place.

2008 Republican candidate John McCain feared being accused of playing the race card. But Wright is not about “race.” It is much, much bigger than that. Wright is about Obama’s character, beliefs and policies. The question remains the same one that should have been addressed four years ago: Do Obama and Wright share the same view of “social injustice,” a perspective that reveals Obama’s character and beliefs — and reflects his current and future policies?

Obama, in 2007, described the 20-year father/son-like relationship this way: “What I value most about Pastor Wright is not his day-to-day political advice. He’s much more of a sounding board for me to make sure that I am speaking as truthfully about what I believe as possible and that I’m not losing myself in some of the hype and hoopla and stress that’s involved in national politics.”

But Wright is off-limits.

Obama was probably the most surprised politician in America when McCain refused to jam Wright down Obama’s throat — as Obama would most assuredly have if the situation were reversed. Reluctant to “inject race”? Obama’s hand-picked chair of the Democratic National Committee routinely accuses the Republicans of wanting “to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws.” People forget the bare-knuckled way Obama got every serious opponent kicked off the ballot in his first Illinois state Senate race — and was therefore elected with no serious opposition.

But Wright, who described himself as a “second father” to Obama, is off-limits.

Obama selected Trinity United. He selected the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Wright married Barack and Michelle. He blessed their home in Hyde Park.

He baptized the Obamas’ daughters. Obama initially wanted Wright to deliver the invocation when Obama announced his run for the presidency.Wright calls the criminal justice system racially biased against blacks. So does Obama. Wright, in 2006, falsely said, “We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college.” A year later, Obama repeated the Wright canard almost verbatim: “More young black men languish in prison than attend colleges and universities across America.” Pre-emptively deciding Trayvon Martin’s death was a matter of racial profiling, Obama said, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Obama sided with the indignant black Harvard professor instead of the white cop who was properly responding to a call about possible burglary. “The Cambridge police,” Obama said, “acted stupidly.”

Obama, in “Dreams From My Father,” quotes Wright from the “Audacity to Hope” sermon: “White folks’ greed runs a world in need.”

What does Obama blame for the financial crisis? “Greed” and “fat cat bankers on Wall Street.” Obama’s greed-based view explains why he denounces “millionaires and billionaires” for failing to pay their “fair share” of taxes. It tells us why candidate Obama told an Ohio plumber, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Wright’s relationship with Obama helps explain the president’s handling of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.

Wright said in a 2007 interview, “When (Obama’s) enemies find out that in 1984, I went to Tripoli (to visit Moammar Gadhafi) with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.” Wright also blamed “Zionists” for “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza. Does this not shed light on why Obama condemned the “reckless” building of Israeli “settlements” in east Jerusalem — causing an immediate chill in America’s relationship with Israel? Does Wright’s anti-Semitism tell us something about why Obama said “nobody’s suffering more than the Palestinian people from this whole process”?

But Wright is off-limits.

For his new book, “The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House,” reporter Ed Klein taped a lengthy interview with Wright. The reverend claims that Obama secretly met with him and tried to dissuade Wright from speaking out until the election. He says an Obama surrogate offered him $150K to stop giving speeches until after the 2008 election!

Even then-Sen. Obama thought Wright was fair game. “I think that people were legitimately offended by some of the comments that (Wright) had made in the past,” said Obama in April 2008. “The fact that he’s my former pastor, I think, makes it a legitimate political issue.”

But Wright, four years later, is off-limits — unless you’re nuts.

Answering that question, you can just let your imagination run wild, because there is absolutely no explanation too bizarre, given the myriad if bizarre events and activities in THIS administration!!

The whole thing descended into broad farce immediately after “O’s” inauguration ... and I think it was a short step in view of the wholly fraudulent, irregular and unbelievable Byzantine stuff that went on JUST to get him nominated!!!

I would bet that Wright is 40 kinds of pissed at ozero.

He was part of his twisted flock for 20 years.
He married the kenyan.
He baptized his kids.
He opened some doors for obama.
obama said he couldn’t throw Wright under the bus, then turned right around and threw him under the bus.

One of these days, Rev Wright will start talking.
Ought to be interesting.

The Real Story Behind Rev. Wright's Controversial Black Liberation Theology Doctrine
Monday , May 5, 2008
FoxNews/Hannity's America
[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]

(some key excerpts)

["(Jose) Diaz-Balart is the son of Rafael Diaz-Balart y Guitierrez (a former Cuban politician). He has three bothers, Rafael Diaz-Balart (a banker), Mario Diaz-Balart (a US Congressman) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (also a US Congressman). His aunt, Mirta Diaz-Balart, was Fidel Castro's first wife."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Diaz-Balart]

JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.

I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."

REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."

SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate
Kathy Shaidle, FrontPageMag.com
Monday, April 07, 2008

In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obama’s pastor in a heated interview about his Church’s teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...

Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.

Catholics for Marx [Liberation Theology]
By Fr. Robert Sirico
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, June 03, 2004

In the days when the Superpowers were locked in a Cold War, Latin America seethed with revolution, and millions lived behind an iron curtain, a group of theologians concocted a novel idea within the history of Christianity. They proposed to combine the teachings of Jesus with the teachings of Marx as a way of justifying violent revolution to overthrow the economics of capitalism.

The Gospels were re-rendered not as doctrine impacting on the human soul but rather as windows into the historical dialectic of class struggle. These "liberation theologians" saw every biblical criticism of the rich as a mandate to expropriate the expropriating owners of capital, and every expression of compassion for the poor as a call for an uprising by the proletarian class of peasants and workers.

Instead, in a carefully-worded, roundabout form of ethnic nationalism,[8] they say that Marx based his ideology and teachings on indigenous African cultures, and that the NBPP therefore need not look to Marxism or Maoism as a basis for their program, but can look to ideologies that stem directly from those African origins.”

Here's the thing:

It would be truly an exceptional person who reaches adulthood without having had some experiences or associations in their past for which they are not entirely proud. That's given.

It is the same for everyone, so I don't regard it as completely objectionable or shocking that politicians and other public figures have skeletons in their closet, so to speak. We almost expect it and though we'd like it to be different, we have to be realistic.

As far as these facts of life in American politics are concerned, THE significant point becomes, how do you handle what these past indiscretions/misjudgments/personal misdemeanors, etc. once they are public information?

In the way “O” reacted to the ‘Rev. Wright’ flap… he committed, and without exception, every conceivable and possible blunder:

• He did not respond promptly
• He did not make a logical or believable response
• He did not make an unambiguous or unequivocal response
• He did not remain consistent IN his response to OR in his assessment of the damage
• He did not express personal regret about this association, only annoyance that it was exposed
• He did not comprehend (nor YET comprehends) how damaging the association is
• He did not agree (nor YET allows) that such an association was (is) improper for the President of the United States of America-in fact would be improper for ANY elected official in this country

I could work on this list all day long and never complete it. But you understand.

What enrages Americans most about this is that the careers of far better politicians than “O” have been completely and permanently destroyed for ‘infractions’ and personal failings which do not approach “O’s” personal, direct, intimate and long-standing association with near-lunatic, treasonous and criminally Anti-Ameirican individuals who THEMSELVES have not and will not moderate their speech or demonstrate reason in their views or activities!!!

Larry Grathwohl:

"I asked, 'well what is going to happen to those people we can't reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?' and the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers. And when I say 'eliminate,' I mean 'kill.' Twenty-five million people. I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people. And they were dead serious."

Can we get Obama's blackberry phone records? texts, phone calls, emails. Can we get information on whether he has met with Wright on his many visits to Chicago?

By letting him off the hook with Rev. Wright, we showed Obama and the left how weak and unwilling to fight we had become. It inspired them to run crazy after taking dominate control of the white house, house of reps and the senate.

McCain sent them the wrong message in 2008. We the people sent them the right message in 2010. We need to repeat the message in 2012. Romney better get on board.
