Marchers say gangs aren't issue ['Justice for (gangbanger) Cesar']

WALLA WALLA — Family and friends of the late Ceasar Chavira, who was killed during a burglary at the New York Store May 4, gathered for a second protest march against the actions of store owner John Saul, who shot Chavira.

Signs ranged from calls for justice to more pointed accusations of murder. Several protestors held signs that read, “It’s Not About Gangs — It’s About Excessive Force.”

“It wasn’t really a gang activity that was going on,” said Chavira’s cousin, Eder Alejandre.

Ramon Gomez, a self-described “friend of the community” added that Chavira was wrong to break into the store.

“What Ceasar did was not right,” Gomez said. “They were both wrong.”

Follow-up to this article, where another "friend of the community", Jesse, was a bit more blunt:
Jessie said he understands Cesar made a bad choice to break into the store, but he didn’t deserve to die for the mistake. He said he won’t rest until justice is served.

“We’ll take it civil, but either way he’s gonna get justice. What he did was in the wrong. He knows he’s in the wrong. He has to live with that and sleep with that. And honestly I just can’t wait until he gets justice,” Jessie said.

And then there is what actually happened...

According to his lawyer, a Walla Walla store owner who shot and killed a known gang member trying to break into the store was defending his property.

John Saul, owner of New York Store, told his lawyer that he came out to the front of the store early Friday morning after he heard the sound of glass breaking.

Saul, who lives on the property on Isaacs Avenue, confronted Cesar Chavira, 22, and told him to "hold it".

Michael Hubbard, Saul's lawyer, told KAPP/KVEW Chavira said "I'm gonna kill you", and Saul responded by shooting him with his shotgun.

The Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office said deputies are still investigating the case.

Hubbard said the Walla Walla County Prosecutor told him there are no charges pending and is not expecting to charge Saul with any crimes.

Saul opened the store the same morning of the shooting and has been operating the store since.

The Sheriff's Office said Chavira was a known gang member in the community and had a history of criminal activity in Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater.

And of course - the Justice for Cesar "Guero" Chavira facebook page is up, with its stated mission as:
"This page was started to help us in finding justice in the wrongful killing of Cesar. Please help support in finding justice!"

Sound familiar? It seems as though the Trayvon Martin media-fabricated-and-driven "racial killing" has led the criminal masses and their enablers/parents to believe that murderous crimials are now a protected class of citizen. According to the Sheriff Dept, the investigation will conclude this week and, much to the chagrin of the gang banger community and families, there will likely be no arrest of the store owner. Stay tuned.

Lieutenant Briggs: Suppose they panic and start shooting?
Harry Callahan: Nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot!
`Magnum Force’ 1973

It all depends on your perspective:
“Another child victim of senseless gun violence”: dhims
“Another dead punk” the rest of us.

I used to live in this little town - a very nice place then. Now there are far too many illegals and useless hyphened Americans.

You are right to see the parallels to the Trayvon Martin case, but they both reflect something that is very much less than spontaneous. These demonstrations result from the deliberate spreading of Marxist rationalizations for class-warfare in communities deemed to be susceptible. There are repeated signs, in recent years, that the far Left senses they are entering an "End Game," where they complete the multi-generational effort to overthrow the fundaments of American society & social values.

In other words, these are symptoms of a very dangerous situation that has been carefully developed by our enemies.

The increasing frequency of these incidents is a very, very unfortunate sign. People better start waking up. (Not here, I mean generally. Most people at Free Republic are well aware of how these incidents have been promoted.)

>>>hmm...seems to me justice has already been served.<<<

Not entirely. When the dead thug’s family reimuburse John Saul for the broken glass and the bullet, justice will be served.

It is truly sad how many people take the criminal’s side, against the innocent victim.

No doubt these things are being organized and coordinated, likely right from 1600 Penn. The commies have figured out how hard it is to get our guns, so now begins the process of incrementally making it criminal to defend yourself with one. This s**t needs to be nipped in the bud, post haste.

If these people really wanted justice, they’d stop committing crimes. Why is that so hard to understand?

You focus on one of the most important aspects of the current assault on our institutions. For a full range of the arguments for American gun rights, see The Right & Duty To Keep & Bear Arms.

As for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. & this. Who can say. We know how far the Administration was willing to go with its "Fast & Furious" gambit. One can only hope that the impeachment of the number one Administration lawyer, who would not have so acted on his own, will go forward, soon.

We pay taxes, support the law, raise our families, support our communities, and now we’re expected to be willing crime victims.

I’m going to fall back on the trusty, old Founders test. WOuld the Founders have agreed to establish the U.S. had they known eventually it would be possibly illegal ëxcessive force” to kill someone for breaking into or attempting to break into your property? Hell no.

I have no sympathy for a criminal stupid enough to say, “I’m going to kill you” to a guy armed with a shotgun. John Saul deserves a medal.

Which will lead to lots of more otherwise law-abiding people calling "Winston Wolfe".

I would love to see the store owner SUE the people who are protesting outside of his store as well as the money sources behind these groups. Isn’t this a form of harassment of a victim who defended his life? What happened to the victims’ rights groups? The store owner is being harassed for using self-defense. This is a new form of outrage. A lawsuit would open up a new line of inquiry in the courts.

It's about burglary - not about gangs.

Crime's a dangerous occupation...

Maybe the idiots with the protest signs should tell the kids coming up that when you threaten to harm an innocent citizen, you might get shot'...

The liberal establishment is pushing for more criminal resentment and anger - they're ginning up the vote and mobilizing the criminal class to work for them. Goons to enforce is how these groups are used in South American countries....

Every time I see one of these little protests, I’m moved to ask where the 10s of thousands of law-abiding citizens are, that should dwarf them 1000 to 1.

That’s the only thing that will put an end to this. Just swamp these gutter-snipes 1000 to 1 out there.
