DGA Pours $1 Million More Into Wis. Recall Effort

With just under two weeks to go until Wisconsin's election to recall GOP Gov. Scott Walker, the Democratic Governors Association is spending an extra $1 million in support of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who is challenging the incumbent.

The money will go to Greater Wisconsin, a liberal group, to keep running ads in the state as part of a get-out-the-vote operation. In total, the DGA has spent $3 million on the recall effort, which is more than it invested in the 2006 and 2010 election cycles in the Badger State.

Barrett lost to Walker by just under six percentage points in 2010. He won a Democratic primary earlier this month, in which organized labor spent millions backing his opponent, to challenge Walker again. The pair will face off at the polls in a special election on June 5, the results of which may serve as a barometer for the presidential race this fall in the Badger State. Last year, Walker signed into law a measure limiting collective bargaining rights for public workers, which sparked weeks of protests in Madison and eventually led to the effort to remove him from office.

But the governor appears to have momentum. The state’s largest newspaper, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, endorsed him last weekend, arguing that “a disagreement over a single policy is simply not enough to justify a vote against the governor.” Walker leads Barrett in several recent polls and voter enthusiasm appears to be on his side. The governor is up by five points in a new Wisconsin Public Radio/St. Norbert College poll. And a Marquette survey taken from May 9-12 finds him attracting 50 percent of the support from likely voters to Barrett’s 44 percent. He leads by 5.8 points in the RCP Average.

So thanks to Scott Walker, an extra $3 million boost to the economy was generated. He should make a campaign ad for that.

“The outcome is important to anyone who supports Democratic values, no matter where you live,” wrote DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “Winning in Wisconsin sends a powerful message to the far-right extremists, and it starts to roll back their worst offenses.”..............So we are the extremists.

Every dollar which the Dems spend on this recall is a dollar they won’t have to spend on Obama. Spend away.

Here we see another DemocRAT 'get out the vote' drive. Some locals, overwhelmed by bus exhaust, are wondering if they'll see a sudden spike in visitors from south of the border.

Good!

Let the ‘Rats spend all of their money frantically trying to patch this sinking ship.

It will mean less ‘Rat money spent elsewhere.

I had an email a little earlier about trying to raise that last $26K for the Walker campaign.

The cost of holding this referendum should be billed back to the groups which wanted it in the first place.
