MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (CBS ATLANTA) -
An honor student in Texas was thrown in jail after she missed too many classes at her high school.
A judge issued Diane Tran, 17, a summons Wednesday for her excessive truancy after she missed class. She was arrested in open court.
Last month, Tran was issued a warning by the judge for missing school.
Tran said she works both full-time and part-time jobs, in addition to taking advanced and college level courses.
But the judge said Tran's case was bigger than the individual situation of one student.
"If you let one run loose, what are you gonna' do with the rest of 'em?," said Judge Lanny Moriarty. "Let them go too? A little stay in the jail for one night is not a death sentence."

My first thought! Public schools are no longer places where math, english and history are taught. They have become liberal indoctrination centers. She may have missed classes on homosexual instruction, why America is evil, and of course, Caucasian atrocities.

Back in the late 1970's, there was a small book entitled, "Freedom in a Nutshell," by Dr. Kenneth W. Ryker. It was, and is, a priceless work which was published in two parts by FEE, the Foundation for Economic Education, and now can be read in two parts, here, and here.
"Freedom in a Nutshell" should be widely distributed today to the youth of our country. They could look around them and see evidences of the truths he outlines in such simple, yet profound, terms.

Public School by design conditions the mind to accept government control of liberty. That’s the whole point. Convert free thinkers into a state of conformity.

All too often, public school attendance is a jail sentence disguised as an education.
This all about $$ for the trade union, since school funding is based on daily head-count. Did the teachers’ union helped this moronic “judge” sneak into office?
This kid will be scarred for life by this travesty. Time for Texans to water their Liberty Tree.
This is my school district and yes the judges in this county are that tough. Cops too are everywhere. Their plan is to get everyone on the payment plan or incarcerate. Sentences in this county are way way over the top.
