Chris Hayes: I'm 'Uncomfortable' Calling Fallen Military 'Heroes'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/27/2012 6:30:17 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Effete: affected, overrefined, and ineffectual; see "Chris Hayes." OK, I appended the name of the MSNBC host to the dictionary definition. But if ever you wanted to see the human embodiment of the adjective in action, have a look at the video from his MSNBC show this morning of the too-refined-by-half Hayes explaining why he is "uncomfortable" in calling America's fallen military members "heroes."

Hayes is worried that doing so is "rhetorically proximate" to justifications for more war. Oh, the rhetorical proximity!

View the video after the jump.

Never heard of him. What is he, 14? Is this the dreck that colleges are excreting these days? No wonder the Chinese, Koreans, Indians and Japanese are eating our lunch. What has this fakakta little effeminate mook ever done that he can sit on his high horse and judge the men who protect his nerdy little ass? Buehler? Buehler?

I think we need a new ping list for rhetorical proximities as they happen...I always want to stay up to date on those.

I wish a few of those military war-monging Marines would kick him in the teeth just so he couldn’t utter “rhetorical proximity” ever again and would truly know what it’s like to feel “uncomfortable”.

What a pompous little ingrate...

It makes their gift to their country and people all the more heroic when they did their honorable duty as Americans, put themselves in harms way, and suffered the ultimate sacrifice - in the face of the ungrateful scum of the media like this thing.

If he ever grows up to realize his shame, he’d spend the rest of his life trying to make up for his self-humiliation, realizing he’ll never succeed in doing so.

Honor always eludes these husks of humanity. They know they will never achieve, so they seek approval amongst their circle of hollow little boys.

Someone should ask him who he is comfortable calling a hero. Any number of gay icons would make the list, I’m sure.

That’s Rachel Madcow’s mini-me!

Come to think of it, there is quite a resemblance between "Chrissy" and "Mad Cow" Maddow:

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”

John Stuart Mill

English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)”

Well, that is most of the liberal Democrats. Nothing is worth fighting for. Just let it go “It’s all good”—what claptrap

We are well past the point in this country when vile liberal scum can say things like this without any ramifications. These POS liberals strut around ignorantly believing they are the smartest people in the room continuously espousing their filth, lies, and perversion, completely clueless or indifferent to the fact that they are only able to do so because of those in the military who have fallen defending this country. This disgusting little pervert needs to be placed in a room with family members of those fallen military heroes look them in the eye and repeat that statement. Words cannot adequately describe how much I despise liberals...

this “person” is welcome to go to any of our bases or military academies and spout this theory...instead of the safe echo chamber of MSNBC.

What did “conservative” mean in the context of 19th century Britain?

Without that contemporary context, the quote means nothing.
