Three things the feds could do under Romney;

Cease all payroll deductions for union dues.

Kill Davis-Bacon

Kill the NLRB

Pressure states to take similar action.

“Legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole—with their common aim of legal plunder—constitute socialism.

But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.”

~Frederic Bastiat

I have found this quote a sublime distillation of socialism...and its daughters, unionism being one of them.

Repealing the Davis–Bacon Act Would Save Taxpayers $10.9 Billion

The Davis–Bacon Act (DBA) requires the government to pay construction wages that average 22 percent above market rates. This shields unions from competition on federal construction projects. It will also add $10.9 billion to the deficit in 2011.

Given that the federal government is already running historic and unsustainable deficits, federal policy should not unnecessarily inflate the cost of federal construction projects. Congress should repeal the DBA.

Unsustainable Spending .

DBA Restrictions Increase Costs .

Repeal the Davis–Bacon Act .

America can no longer afford such special-interest handouts. If Congress is serious about reducing spending or lowering unemployment, it should repeal the DBA. Congress should also reduce the amount it contributes to state construction projects by the amount the DBA inflates costs. This would ensure that the federal government realizes the full $10.9 billion in savings in 2011. Congress should stop requiring the federal government to hire four construction workers for the price of five.

10.9 billion sounds sounds way to low

So, under Obamacare, Health Insurance companies must keep their overhead expenses below 15%, and to pay out 85% or more of their premium income to providers.

Yet:

Annual Dues Paid to Unions: $8,217,838,676
Overhead: $3,905,927,269

Unions are able to incur overhead of over 47% of their revenue, excluding political contributions of an additional 11% of revenue, and the RATS and RINO’s look the other way.

How does one spell Korruption???

What a total scam!!!!!!!!

Unions these days are nothing more than parasites that feed off the blood if their wounded and infected hosts. They are wild eyed, lunatic thugs with a faux title that covers thier crimes. They cannot comprehend anything beyond their next fix, and would pimp out thier own grandmothers to get it.Extortion legalized.

“And what % of that 7% is FORCED to be Union?”

Quite a few. Thanks for asking. Husband was required to be union for 10 years at former job (same industry). He hated it because the unions played their unions like fiddles, getting them riled up by little things, and letting big things go, all the while padding their own pockets at the expense of the employees. The dues were expensive, and were a huge burden to the guys who made even less money. When contract negotiation time rolled around, union goons intimidated and even outright threatened the guys to sign the new contract that they didn’t’ want because it was worse than the last one (they always were). People the stood up to the union didn’t live long. Literally. So mostly you just paid your dues, shut up, signed whatever they told you to sign, and waited for a better job. Unions suck!!

Husband is in a forced public sector union, and has always been against it. When a fellow employee was seriously injured on the job and the municipality just fired him, the union did nothing to help. It opened a lot of eyes. When the people he worked with opened up their own pocket books to help him with legal and medical bills, the city settled by giving him a different job— the man wanted to work. The union they’ve paid into for years left them high and dry but still takes their dues.

More unionized government employees at every level, than in the private sector.

You now work for the public servants.

I recently got a job in IT with my local county and was forced to unionize. Just got one of their “newsletters” in the mail telling union workers to vote for Obama! LOL! Needless to say it went into the kindling pile!
