The Louisiana House is backing a plan to rewrite the state constitutional protections in such a way that would give Louisiana the strongest pro-gun protection laws in the country. The objective of the plan is to protect the Second Amendment from judges who might want to tamper with Louisiana gun laws.
Sen. Neil Riser received backing from the NRA as he pushed the bill through the House, earning a 77-22 vote. A supporter of the bill, Rep. Jay Morris, stated, "The right to bear arms is something that's fundamental. We just need to make sure it stays that way."
So, what would the bill do, exactly? Right now the Louisiana Constitution reads, "The right of each citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to prohibit the carrying of weapons concealed on the person." Basically, this bill would take an eraser to everything after the word "infringed."
Opponents of the bill fear that it would give grounds to question every single existing gun law in the state. Rep. Patricia Smith is concerned that Louisiana will become a newer version of "the wild, wild West." Opponents also aren't sure why the bill is even necessary. They argue that there have been no threats against gun rights, so rewriting the Constitution now is simply unnecessary.
The bill will still need to undergo some minor revisions and receive the backing of voters in the Nov. 6 statewide election before it could be enacted.
Oh, that old and worn out cliche'.
Now if you want to see a reversion back to the "wild, wild, West just look toward Chicago where firearms are banned.
Praise Louisiana and pass the ammunition.

Liberal mythology notwithstanding, the “wild, wild West” wasn’t very wild, especially when compared to, say, a typical Liberal-run urban area. Much of the populace of the “wild, wild West” would have been Civil War veterans. These were men who knew how to use firearms, owned them, and wouldn’t put up with guff from criminals for long.
Throwing out a cliché like the “wild, wild West” is what Liberals do to avoid having to advance a rational argument based on facts and reality.
Like their overuse and mis-use of the word “cowboy”.
While it's a good amendment, I would think that if you are going to all of the trouble of amending the state constitution that you would try to get the best possible terms, perhaps something like: "The right of each citizen to acquire, keep, carry, transport, use, and bear arms is fundamental right and shall not be abridged, infringed, or restricted by any law."

She is ridiculous. Most EVERYONE in Louisiana has a gun. I have a gun, my son has multiple guns. Men’s eye’s roll back in their head if someone has a gun case full of high powered guns and you don’t see us running around shooting each other. The saying,people kill people is worn out but true. In Louisiana we believe in God and country - well at least 90% of us do and we don’t claim the rest.

Because the only legitimate reason for gun control is tyranny and they don’t want to have the people able to resist.
That's actually a very easy question to answer. The reason that concealed-carry was left unprotected is that it is the codification of the idea that the honest citizen has no reason to hide his weapons. In virtually all cases the criminal element is best served by presenting a facade of an unarmed unimportant nobody before and after the crime, revealing that they are actually armed only during the commission of the crime, as this reduces the chances that anyone will stop/hinder them.
Personally, I think I would go with something of an amalgamation of ND, TN, and NM's Constitutions regarding guns.
Something like:
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to manufacture, buy, sell, transport, keep and/or bear arms. To guard these fundamental rights -- and because the doctrine of non-resistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind -- they are forever excepted from the general powers of the government.

The hoplophobes keep using “Wild West” as an example, the but “Wild West” was a heck of a lot more civilized than, say, Chicago, where firearms are all but outlawed.
