SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Devout Latter-day Saints are dressing up in their Sunday best clothing to march in a gay pride parade this Sunday.

The Latter-day Saints will carry their scriptures and hold up quotes from church leaders about messages of love and acceptance.
.
.
She says gay pride festival organizers welcomed her with open arms when she request to march. She expects about 100 people to march in her group.

"What we're trying to do is say we welcome you. We want you to be part of our congregation. We want you to feel safe in our pews," Munson said.

She is also sending a clear message to other Latter-day Saints. "We want people in wards all over the world to see us and say these folks are just like me," said Munson.

I doubt it...

Exmos have escaped from the evils of Mormonism...

They dont want anything to do with TSSC “the so called church” or the “scriptures” from the book of mormon that had them bound for so long...

The article is about current Mormons...

They are planning to carry their book of Mormon sayings and greetings from their leader...

Is this generally promoted by the LDS church, or is this some “devout” Mormon making public statements and taking positions on their own, without true authority to represent the position of the church?

I would be very surprised and disappointed if this represents official church policy, or even if it represents policy the church will wink and nod at, or ignore with implicit approval.

Does anybody know if there has been a statement from the office of the LDS president, or something similar, about this?

From further reading, the Mormon church recently supported a law barring discrimination in housing and employment against gays. They say this does not alter their stance on traditional marriage.

Seems they are trying to soften their image in areas where they don’t believe gays should be discriminated against, in part because they experienced a backlash after they led the fight against gay marriage.

So it’s a mixed bag at best.

Will the LDS church then kick out these homo-agenda-enabling, “active and observant Mormons”?

Probably, but they aren’t marching in an organized group.

There are also articles about former mormon pastors

If these “active and observant Mormons” are not kicked out of the LDS church for their very prominent participation in this parade, it would seem to indicate that while the LDS church is supporting certain Conservative causes, it would rather retain/increase numbers than boot segments of its membership for participating in events and causes which are in direct conflict with Conservative causes.

There is no such thing as a mormon pastor.
mormonism in and of itself is not anti-homosexual, just as it is not pro-life.

Two of my friends and I watch, so we can go, “OMG, did you see THAT” together, LOL. It’s like a train wreck.

It’s amazing to see the husband’s ego inflate a little more with every episode.

The state run media will use it as a tool to paint Romney as old fashioned and intolerant.

Willard ??? Old fashioned ???

Hardly...

Oh theres no fear of that happening...

and as far as I know Willard is only intolerant of Christianity...

He has no cause for alarm...

The media knows he supports gay marriage and gay adoption...

His progressive creds are safe...

Don’t know my mormon terminology and don’t really care what they call their “priests”. Deacons?

I’m not defending their marching in a gay parade. I do know the mormons have been a huge asset in opposing gay marriage laws. They claim they are supporting certain gay “rights” but still support only traditional marriage.

This stuff is going to happen. You have gays and gay family members in every religion and they are going to break ranks. It’s the Dick Cheney effect.

Romney does not support gay marriage. And the media sure won’t depict him as supporting it because they want to show he is “intolerant”.

I have two cousins that are homosexual, one was asked to leave by her bishop until she “changed”, the other is a temple momron been living with his “friend” now for ten years, also a mormon.
My college room mate was mormon, got married in the temple (the whole deal).
She found her husband in bed with another man. The marriage was annulled by a court, she is still sealed for eternity to the thug. She was asked to leave because she divorced him. He remarried within the year in another temple ceremony.
So to answer your question - no they wont, not always.

“We want you to feel safe in our pews.”

... Interesting. What they don’t say is that after being a gay Mormon in THIS life you will be cured in the NEXT life and be straight.

“However, the perfect plan of our Father in Heaven makes provision for individuals who seek to keep His commandments but who, through no fault of their own, do not have an eternal marriage in mortal life. As we follow Heavenly Father’s plan, our bodies, feelings, and desires will be perfected in the next life so that every one of God’s children may find joy in a family consisting of a husband, a wife, and children.”

Romney does not support gay marriage

He claims he doesn't, but how can you support the "right" for homosexual couples to adopt children yet be oppossed to that same couple getting married. The former is much worse than the latter.
