The musician known as "The Boss" touched on a nerve of widespread discontent as he addressed the global economic crisis in front of 58,000 people at the German capital's Olympic Stadium.

Speaking in German, he said: "In America, a lot of people have lost their jobs. But also in Europe and in Berlin, times are tough. This song is for all those who are struggling."

The 62-year-old singer then introduced "Jack of All Trades," a withering attack on bankers that includes the lyrics: "The banker man grows fat, working man grows thin."

In "Death to My Hometown", he sang about the "greedy thieves and robber barons" who "destroyed our families, factories and they took our homes". Springsteen's populist songs have a strong blue collar following in America and his latest album "Wrecking Ball," released in March, is an angry indictment of Wall Street and those responsible for the financial crisis...

I like "Rosalita" but I always think he looks like he is taking a poopy when he is singing.

Actually, he can’t sing, he screams/yells.

Sure...everyone at his concerts gets in for free, right? What a darn hypocrite! I never could understand why everyone loves “Born in American” when it’s an ANTI-AMERICAN song! I have never like Bruce Springsteen and I never will.
He should give all his money away, don’t you think????? He’s a complete ASS!

Faithful mouther of tired, old, fallacious socialist mantras. (Except Democrats had the largest hand in feeding failing banks on the taxpayer’s dime after first setting them up by regulation to fail. That might be something to complain about.) Other than that, why does he even have such a following? “The Boss” sounds ironic for one who hates management so.

And I betcha Mr. S. does not himself stow his cash in his mattress.

“And Mr. Springsteen, how exactly have you invested your hundreds of millions of dollars in assets?”

Wouldn't he be considered the 1%’er?

I love all these feel guilty for their success libtards.

A fellow FReeper posted this earlier.

“We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions” Adolf Hitler.

I have asked him/her for a source to verify the quote, but in the meantime the irony is amazing.

More puerile, simplistic and utterly ignorant political and economic commentary from mere musicians.

I guess I should ask my plumber about late Renaissance oil painting.......

Mr. Springsteen then boarded his private jet to return to his gated estate in Red Bank.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to take a peek at Springsteen’s financial portfolio and see where he has stashed his millions ?

The first time I heard “Born to Run”, I thought it was a recording of someone throwing up, set to music.

I'm re-reading "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". I first read it years ago, and have picked it up a few times since, but not in the recent past.

I could fill pages of quotes and statements that are so incredibly relevant to Zero . . . if I didn't tell you who said them, you couldn't tell the difference.

It's quite scary.

Like they say in one of the lite beer ads: “HERE we go!”

I never DID GET all the adulation of Springsteen! MY read of him is that he’s a self-aggrandizing twerp! Don’t get me wrong....I’m a total fan of different strokes for different folks and all that....but I wouldn’t walk across the street to hear him, if admission was free. FWIW. I’ve waited a long time to day that. ;o)
