Alongside Obama, George W. Bush Steals the WH Show

It's Barack Obama's house now, but his predecessor and political foil, George W. Bush, stole the show at the White House on Thursday with his wisecracks and grin.

"Thank you so much for inviting our rowdy friends to my hanging," the former president said, referring to members of his family and former staff, invited back to the executive mansion for the unveiling of his and Laura Bush's official portraits. "Behave yourselves," he jokingly admonished his crowd.

Bush told the current president he was pleased to know "that when you are wandering these halls as you wrestle with tough decisions, you will now be able to gaze at this portrait and ask, 'What would George do?'"

You are not alone. This past week the NatGeo channel replayed his interview from last year devoted to 9-11. Seeing clips of him back then showed just how qualified he was. We were fortunate to have him, especially at that moment in history.

BTW, the portrait is outstanding. While the media has never been kind to him, I believe history will be. It was good to see him and his family enjoy this day. He did himself proud.

President Bush had his flaws, as would human being. But he and Mrs. Bush conducted themselves with class. They maintained the dignity the Office of President should have. They commanded respect.

Which is why I still have a picture of George and Laura Bush hanging on my office wall.

That gong was way annoying. Trying to make Dubya sound like a vaudeville act when his jokes were low-key, funny and good humored.

Broken record here. Love W the man but W the politician barely had a conservative instinct anywhere in his being. But love his class and sense of humor.

Wow, it’s just such a contrast George and Laura seem warm, genuine...they obviously like each other..good hearted..humility, grateful

Contrast that against the current residents..lame ass attempts at being funny, attempts at being cool, taking over every television show from late night talk to sesame street, and Disney with “appearances”, scowling faces, self centered, narcissistic, overbearing, me, me, me.grandiose, ungracisous..keeping Netanyahu waiting, making the Dalai Lama use the back door, and walk by all the garbage bags..

Yep, such a contrast..

I can only imagine the glacial cold and silence with which that ceremony was watched on "the telly" in certain chambers in Buckingham Palace, by someone who was front-row center when Obozo the Klown dumped disgracefully during his protocol-busting appearance with the Queen.

I saw some of that, and it was like watching an airliner crash in slow motion. At least it didn't produce dead bodies .... like Obozo's victory lap and outing the SEALs after they bagged Osama Bin Laden.

I guess his 2 Supreme Court CONSERVATIVE Justices who are holding this country together are meaningless to you. I guess his 2003 Federal Income Tax rate reductions for lower and middle class mean nothing to you. GWB has allowed me to keep more of my paycheck...

There were many things I disagreed with Bush on. All said, He and Mrs. Bush served the country with grace and class. Hannity played the whole clip today. President Bush handled the affair with class and humor. Obozo sounded like a buffoon.

I think Obama’s classless, self-serving remarks at this event were an astounding disgrace, but pretty much par for the course from The Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers.

With luck, OBummer won't have his picture disgracing the White House if his ineligibility is finally proved.
And the bastard is ineligible in several ways.

Thank you so very much for these great links.

What class the Bush family is always.

Some of the Bush graciousness seemed to rub off on Michelle, for a time.

The contrast of obama and the Bush family is astounding. I believe that Michelle actually stood up to the plate tonight.
