McMahon is charged with 'coarsening' of public dialogue and tastes by a liberal journalists.

Imagine that, a liberal journalist concerned with public morality.

The wonders never cease.

Somebody needs to cue him in, these things are staged.

Ther comments at the site pretty well say it all. This queer prude, Chris, is wrapped much too tightly.

Eveningstar,

I think you brought me around; I probably needed that.

I stand corrected. I certainly can’t sit.

I haven’t watched wrestling for a few years so I have no clue how the current product is. It may be true PG-level, it may not be. I truly don’t know. However there was a time from around 1998 to 2001 that Vince’s show was little more than vulgar R-rated jokes and skits. Kids would tell their parents “Oh, I’m just watching wrestling” while the parents had no idea that the show was featuring simulated oral sex, necrophilia, incest, transgender sex, satanic imagery, etc. Which is why I watched Vince’s competition during that time, because it truly was disgusting.

This is smut.

The value of marriage is ignored in this form of “entertainment.” And, there are more delicate ways to depict the proper roles of men (dominant) and their women (submissive) in family settings. A little more should be left to the imagination.

I don't know a thing about 'pro' wrestling but the fact that GOP senate candidate Linda McMahon was the CEO of a company that produced borderline porn 'wrestling' videos and tawdry live shows for the entertainment of those who found them appealing may be interesting and definitely a hindrance to her political aspirations but should not preclude her from running, as Chris Powell infers.

As a Connecticut resident, I see Linda McMahon as another Greenwich multimillionaire who has, as some wealthy people do in their later years (McMahon is 64) decided she wants political power and is willing to use her money to obtain it. Unfortunately for Linda McMahon, she is making this attempt as a Republican in a state where Democrats have a 2 to 1 advantage in voter registrations. Republicans are only 20% of registered voters in tiny Connecticut.

However, over 40% of Connecticut voters are registered independent so she does have a chance against, most likely, Representative Chris Murphy, a 38-year-old liberal Democrat hack (big-time Obama supporter) who has dutifully claimed his way up the political ladder; state Representative, state Senator, congressional Representative, now senate candidate.

Murphy is as partisan as they come, has zero charisma and few legislative accomplishments of note. Still, he is a Democrat in a state where that political designation very often ensures election, no matter your qualifications or how well you performed your current duties (Murphy tried to get Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas investigated on phony ethics charges, the goal being to have Thomas removed from the bench). A solid leftist hack who once interned for the notorious Chris Dodd and still glows when recalling the experience. Murphy, by virtue of running as a Democrat in 'dark blue' Connecticut, may well slide into a seat in the U.S. senate (replacing retiring 'independent' Joe Lieberman).

That Linda McMahon, with her huge financial resources, is even running against Murphy is a plus for Connecticut Republicans, considering her slim chance of beating him. However, savaging her for the vulgar garbage her company used to offer to an eager public, while within the scope of 'fair game' should not be used to characterize the woman's entire life or beat her with. The Democrats can do that just fine, thanks.

If Linda McMahon is attacking Manchester Journal-Inquirer editor Chris Powell for his disapproving revelations of the WWD shenanigans of the past and McMahon's part in that rubbish, she is not only being unrealistic but is inviting more attention to a subject she obviously would rather not discuss. I think both Chris Powell and Linda McMahon should call a truce.

Enjoying once again the extravagantly catered largesse of the McMahon campaign, many leading Republicans in Connecticut are not inclined to spoil it with such questions. They may figure that the party can never win in this state anyway so they might as well have another good time losing.

Chris Powell, if you think that Republicans will never win, you are as stupid as the rest of the papers in the Hartford area.

The JI was a good paper, now it seems to have slipped...

Large numbers of people across the nation would vote for a three legged one-eyed dog just because it is a Democrat.

Why doesn’t she just embrace WWE and campaign with wrestling conservative, including Latino wrestlers in heavy-Hispanic areas like Bridgeport and Hartford? I don’t get it. America is a celebrity-driven culture, and CT is no different.

Didn't she lose to Richard Blumenthal, the man who got caught lying about his military service and still got enough votes to win handily?
