WASHINGTON - Pastors meeting in Washington have been warned about political activities that could jeopardize their churches' tax-exempt status.
IRS regional manager Peter Lorenzetti told the Faith Leaders Summit that prohibited activities include endorsing or opposing candidates, campaigning for them, or making contributions to their campaigns.
But pastors are free to do any of those things as private citizens, according to Congressman G.K. Butterfield. The North Carolina Democrat, a former judge, said, "You simply cannot do it in your capacity as the pastor of the church and give the implication that the church is endorsing the candidate."

Exactly. Last election, there was a black church in our area that had a get out and vote for Obama sign in front of their church. Churches are also clearinghouses for info on how to game the welfare system.
Wonder how they will feel this election cycle supporting the down-low?

This is such a crock: clearly intended to intimidate churches that seek to defend freedom of religion, oppose unjust statist “mandates”, and preach Christian teachings on unnatural sex practices. The Black churches are ALL about politics and our gun-running,race-hustling Attorney General just delivered a political speech to a large group of Black politician/preachers this week.If they try to use the IRS to muzzle churches or to fine them out of existence, there will be hell to pay.
