Kudos on a well written editorial, Shibumi! Lots of food for thought in this.

Incredibly shallow and silly writing.

In the name of “spreading the wealth around”, I demand 1% of your talent.

+1!!

Forget the trolls. They’d troll their own grandmother’s blog if she went against the “orthodoxy”.

See, what a lot of folks don’t get is that Conservatism is not an ideology, like Lib-ism and its mommy, Communism. Conservatism is the active rejection of ideology. Sure, Sarah Palin is great. However, it does no one any good to put her on a pedastal, either. It is perfectly OK to criticize members of the Conservative Movement. (Gently, of course.)

We are NOT the Idiotic Left. We don’t worship our leaders, we challenge them to be better.

The difference between Walker and Palin is that Walker’s family wasn’t insulted and demonized.

I am a staunch supporter of Sarah Palin, but I must admit that I agree with some of the comments from shibumi on Sarah Palin just being herself.

With that out of the way, I gotta say, ARE YOU KIDDING? You don't think Scott Walker and his family were reviled & hated & insulted & attacked every bit as viciously and frequently as Sarah Palin & her family? The RAT bastard liberal marxists/union thugs/deranged lefties have been pounding on Scott Walker & his family for the past 18 months. They protest nearly daily in front of his house, they attack him as being "Hitler", they've issued death threats against him & his family, they attack his wife who is a WI public school teacher, they attack his 2 teen age boys on the way to school and even in school.

Believe me, Walker & his family have been insulted & demonized non-stop since Feb 2011, and it will not stop even with the ass kicking that the libturds & unions got yesterday. Both Walker & Palin have been attacked viciously by the left, and their families. I agree the circumstances are different, which led to Sarah Palin's decision to resign as Alaska governor, but the hatred & vicious behavior & attacks are pretty much the same for both Walker & Palin.

I believe she wanted to run. But her main goal first and foremost has been to get Obama OUT of the White House. She doesn’t think of it as ‘about’ her. She has made this clear so many times these past few years. I think she came very close to giving it a shot, but she could probably see that the environment was just too psychotically toxic against her. Look at the last year alone... having the newsmedia actually accuse her of complicity in the Tucson mass-murder, and the tens of thousands of death-threats that resulted against not only her, but her parents and children; Hollywood spending millions to make a movie portraying her as a retarded diva, and books accusing her of being some kind of adulterous crack whore. The media spent tons sending correspondents to Alaska for the revelations of her e-mails, where they were hyperventalating at the prospects of scandalous, intemperate messages (only to be crestfallen when there were none). Add to this, just seeing members of your own family being dragged through the tabloid mud of scurrilous lies and such, day in and day out. It was sheerly unhinged, and a deathly landscape to battle from.

What other politician has remotely had to deal with this level of attack? Really. Nothing is comparable. It’s not even counting the earlier burning of her church, and the effort to financially bankrupt her (which was succeeding) when she went back to her governorship in Alaska.

Even with all that, she still hasn’t backed down. She’s still keeping up the fight for conservatism, but doing so in a more viable, strategic way. A smarter way. One that befits her anti-”professional political class” agenda. She has the libs, the media, and even (most difficult of all) the GOP establishment all gunning against her, and it necessitated a different route than serving herself up on the alter of the primaries for their bloodthirst. I truly believe she might ultimately have more success moving things in her reformist/constitutionalist direction the way she’s going now, if she continues to build and play her cards right.

“Nice try at stirring crap, I’m sure you’ll succeed somewhat”

No, this is called healthy and normal debate. Are we Maoists ? Are we Stalinists ? Are we National Socialists ? Do we worship the leaders of our movement ?

Nein, nay, negative, and no chance in hell.

Shibumi wasn’t rude or all Dailykos-like. He stated an opinion. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I think very highly of Sarah Palin and would vote for her tomorrow, but she doesn’t walk on water and she’s yet to raise the dead. She can be criticized, just like anyone else.

As usual, facts are ignored. Walker recall is hard but he won.

Alaska is different. It’s practically the ONLY state that allows automatic civil suits against elected officials without regard to merit.

That is the environment she was in versus Walker. It was destroying her and her family.

To compare the two is ridiculous.

Actually I thought I was making a practical suggestion as to how to frame the debate - should the need arise to do so in the future.

I would welcome and support a Palin candidacy, and would hope that the message could be kept simple and direct. That’s what she’s good at.

So now we’re Paultards ? No criticism of the leadership is allowed ? Are we collectivists or individualists ? Are we no longer allowed to have our own thoughts ?

Any conservative with a phi beta kappa mind who has paid attention to what Gov. Palin accomplished in Alaska and
and how she had driven the national political agenda since should recognize that her politIcal acumen is more elite. than the phi beta standard.

I will vouch for Shibumi. Shibumi is a stand up Conservative.

You PDS'ers are full of crap! And the reason we're in the mess we are now is mostly YOUR fault. I'm pretty much sick of you and your ilk. So shut up and go away.

If the Country goes down, so will Alaska. Sarah realized that no matter how well she governed Alaska, if this Country wasn't saved, it would be basically for naught. She believed, and has been proved right, that she could do more good on the National level, rather than just concentrating on Alaska.

In times past the reasoning that she should have stayed in Alaska may have prevailed, but these are desperate times. By the time she would have been done governing Alaska the Country may well have gone too far, under this terribly destructive leadership, to have brought it back. Even now, so much damage has been done on a National level that it will take a miracle to bring our Country back from this brink. Sarah did what she did because time was of the essence, and the Country truly needed her. We have reaped benefit from her hard work behind the scenes. She could not have accomplished all that she has for us if she had remained Governor.

She went forth on a National level even though it left her open to attacks of being a quitter. She could have remained Governor for her own career's benefit and forgotten about the good of our Nation. Sarah was brave and cared about us more than her own political reputation. For this she should be praised, rather than doubted.

I also think, because of her love for our Country, if Sarah had believed that she would have won the election to become President of our Country, she would have run. She may have made it, but I think her internal polling and gut instinct told her that it wasn't the time. She may have been wrong, but I think she made the decision based upon what she thought was best.

“The difference between Walker and Palin is that Walker’s family wasn’t insulted and demonized.”

Fair enough, and correct.

-—But-—

The Fascist Left went into this one thinking Walker was going to be destroyed. They went in half-a$$ed and ended up having their a$$ handed to them. They were supremely over confident. I can assure you that those vicious animals are plotting their revenge.
