(CNN) -- A unified lawsuit on behalf of more than 2,000 National Football League players has been filed against the league in federal court, alleging that the NFL failed to acknowledge and address neurological risks associated with the sport and then deliberately failed to tell players about the risks they faced, according to attorneys representing former players.

The complaint, filed in federal court in Philadelphia, unites the more than 80 pending lawsuits filed against the NFL.

"I firmly believe the NFL could have and should have done more to protect Ray. That's why I am seeking to hold the NFL accountable," said Mary Ann Easterling, widow of former Atlanta Falcons safety Ray Easterling, who committed suicide in April after years with dementia. "Having lived through Ray's struggle, I desperately hope and pray others can be spared the pain and suffering we have endured -- and still endure every day."

Not only did they know the risks and cash the checks, but they were probably also the culprits whose hits caused the injuries to the other complainers that they are standing next to. They should be suing each other.

They didn’t know the risks. Most of these guys are in the era when the NFL released their “study” that said there was no long term health problems associated with concussions. They were deliberately lied to, the league will lose this suit.

I seem to remember Rush saying recently that pro footbal is being targeted or will be targeted for extinction.
I guess Rush was right or did I misinterpret what he said.

We had several out here, most moved to Nevada or Florida due to high state taxes. Funny, we do tend to keep a lot of old baseball players.

People need to keep in mind that there are no W-2’s issued in the NFL. Each player incorporates themselves and it is corporations dealing with corporations. Every player has his manager and accountant, training coach, in a lot of ways because they make so much they caused their own problem.

After what the NFL did to Rush Limbaugh, denying him a place in the market because he is a conservative, this is my reaction:

Lighter players and less “body armor” are both solved in the LFL - Lingere Football League. Or so I’ve been told....

You don’t see pro hockey players doing this.

Then again, they also have far, far fewer divas in the NHL.

Big mistake by the jocks. The only people to make out in class action, are the lawyers.

If I were building a team from scratch, I would start by finding the best offensive line coach in the business and pay him whatever he wants. A good offensive line makes any team a contender, regardless of what they have at the skill positions.

I agree, and I think Mike Tice is the best dam offensive line coach in the business. Denny Greene can thank Tice for his great offensive machine of the late "90"s. Denny's problem was he thought a great offense meant you did not need to spend money on a defense. Plus he wanted the best black team in the NFL, and ultimately went down by putting his faith in a terrible QB named Daunte Culpepper.

Sadly for Tic, he was promoted well beyond his ability by Red McCombs after he fired Re-Run, and then quit spending money all together because he decided to sell the team when he could not get a stadium deal with Minn. A deal they recently made with a liberal Jew (Ziggy Wilf). They could have saved about 1/2 billion if they worked with McCombs, but he was a conservative and Minn was still controlled by liberals back then.
