We are doomed.
Try not to think like that. There is a group of people there who think they can do nothing but suck on the public teat, but it's not a monolithic bloc. There are teachers, and firefighters, policemen, and many other gov't workers, all with their own unions and their own agendas.
There's the welfare constituency - those who don't even pretend to perform useful labor but still want a handout. Those on welfare, AFDC, the unemployed, food stamps, etc. who expect their needs to be filled too. All want to be first in line for gov't gravy.
Using their own greed, we can get them to work against each other. Split them off into separate factions, by giving them choices.
"There are X dollars to be spent, who gets it?" Welfare queens will vote against pork for teachers, because it doesn't prosper them. Policemen and firefighters squabble over public money all the time. "Zero Sum" the issues - make it clear that if one faction gets a raise, everyone else gets cut. They'll turn on each other like starving RATS.
. . . and gone!
Many years ago, I was in a record store, when a young Black guy came in wearing a bright yellow t-shirt with the word “Jigaboo” boldly emblazoned in black letters. As he came near, I cracked up! Then apologized, telling him his shirt was hilariously outrageous. Turned out he was studying Mechanical Engineering at Case, as had my Dad. We talked for a while. Good kid! Very smart, and a great sense of humor!
There are two very different views in the country. The current administration seems to think that success is measured by how many people are dependent on the government. I think success is measured by how many are not.
-Governor Scott Walker-
IMHO, that is the quote of the year! It’s almost Reaganesque.
Ahh, Gregory Hines in History of the World. One of Mel Brooks best efforts. It was a commercial bomb however.
[ The jig is up...isnt that racist? ]
Well it depends on which jig your talking about..
Oh my God, but I have led a sheltered life. Words fail me.
