An exodus of Christians is taking place in Western Syria: the Christian population has fled the city of Qusayr, near Homs, following an ultimatum issued by the military chief of the armed opposition, Abdel Salam Harba.
This is what local sources told Vatican news agency Fides, pointing out that since the conflict broke out, only a thousand of the city's ten thousand faithful, were left and they are now being forced to flee immediately. Some of the city's mosques have issued the message again, announcing from the minarets: "Christians must leave Qusayr within six days, ending Friday." The ultimatum therefore expired on 8 June and spread fear among the Christian population which had started to regain hope as a result of the presence of the Jesuit Fr. Paolo Dall'Oglio, who stopped off in Qusayr for a week to "pray and fast in the name of peace, right in the midst of conflict."
The reasons for this ultimatum remain a mystery. Some say it is necessary in order to protect faithful from further suffering; other sources reveal "a continuity in discrimination and selective repression." Others still claim that Christians have openly expressed their loyalty to the state and this is why the opposition army is chasing them away. Now Christian families in Qusayr have begun their exodus as displaced persons, towards the surrounding valleys and rural areas. Some have taken refuge in parents' and friends' homes in Damascus. Very few families have courageously decided to stay behind in their birth city but who knows what fate will meet. Fides sources have reiterated that groups of Salafi Islamic extremists within the armed opposition consider Christians as "infidels"; they confiscate their belongings, carry out mass executions and are ready to declare a "denominational war".

Some mosques in the city have re-launched the message, announcing from the minarets: "Christians must leave Qusayr within six days, which expires this Friday." The ultimatum, therefore, expired yesterday, June 8, and produced fear among the Christian population who had begun to hope again after the presence of Father Paolo Dall'Oglio, the Jesuit who stayed in Qusayr for a week, with the idea of "praying and fasting for peace in the midst of the conflict" (see Fides 30/5/2012).

Too bad Syria’s Alawite government can’t just export the country’s Sunni Arabs to a country more in tune with Sunni principles - like Egypt.

I have a great respect for the General. When I was in Kandahar last year, staying in a tent with about 30 TCN’s (Third Country Nationals), there were Filipino’s in the tent also, and on base, his legacy of respect by them continues for the most part.

While it truly sucks right now for the Christians in the mid east, ultimately, their being forced out will benefit them and us all.
The concentration of muslim control means that at some future point when the world has finally woken up, depowered their liberals and admitted that Islam = evil, said world leaders will not have the burden of trying to avoid killing innocents when the war begins. There will be no innocents. Just a concentration of muslim jihadis with defined borders.
Now people say ‘never happen”. Well, people said the same thing about tens of thousands of Christians taking up arms and heading to the mid east once before. They said the same about a young America sending ships to confront the Barbary pirates. They said the same about WW!, 2 Korea, Vietnam, Iraq twice, the Romans, Spaniards....
Eventually, western civilization will have had it’s fill of Islam as it did before. It will be forced into war as it was MANY times before. The only question is when. Not ‘if’, When.
And once Iran uses the nukes that current leaders are too cowardly to stop them from developing, that will happen in short order.

As much as I would like to believe the above and usually history does repeat itself, however, in this political correctness age I have my doubts. I tend to think it will take a near genocidal attack by the Muslims before the world truly gets that Islam is a suicidal/murderous cult.

Oh it absolutely will. There’s not a doubt in my mind. 9/11 didn’t kill enough people to shock liberals into reality. The financial havok that resulted wasn’t enough either. But muslims will indeed keep killing and eventually they’ll kill some sacred cows of the left along with the rest of us. Likely in nuke/biological fashion.
I mean honestly, they have been telling western civ for hundreds of years “Submit or die”. The only people that don’t take them seriously are the deluded libs that think they can leverage their ‘antics’ to serve some purpose and people that don’t care about anything happening outside their field of vision.
Eventually the muslims are going to get hella frustrated at being ignored and they will top 9/11 spectacularly. By their ignoring the problem, the libs are guaranteeing that muslims will keep killing until someone notices and ‘gives them the respect’ they want...right before submitting to Islamic rule.
