What's with Wisconsin?
Chicago Tribune ^ | 10 june 2012 | Clarence Page

Posted on 06/10/2012 7:08:48 AM PDT by rellimpank

Let's give Wisconsin voters some credit. While others try to find easy right-versus-left explanations for Gov. Scott Walker's decisive victory last week, Badger State voters appeared to be more worried about their state's purse.

Their fiscal anxiety reflects a national trend. During the 1990s economic boom, state and local governments awarded generous health and pension benefits to union workers. Now the pensions and benefits are being paid from shrinking revenues in a sluggish economy. The result is a fiscal crisis in cities and states with deepening deficits and threats to public services, ranging from police and firefighters to parks and libraries.

Walker stands out among deficit-cutters only in his audacity, fortified famously by the billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch. The Kochs helped Walker get elected and become a national star among ultraconservatives opposed to unions.

right-versus-left

No.

Ordinary Americans versus the union leftists.

“fortified famously by the billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch”

The author started out so well with his explanations of Wisconsin’s economy and Walker’s win.. until he made this statement..

“fortified famously by the billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch”

After that, I didn’t bother reading the rest.

Sorry Clarence. Those pensions were unstainable in any kind of economy. This day was going to come eventually; the recession just hastened its’ arrival.

Yes, Clarence did the usual genuflection to the Liberal Progressives. He has hit all the Liberal/Progressive talking points. He's blamed it on outside money, the Koches, and said the Republicans are trying to kill the unions. Clarence has drunk heavily from biased well.

What he doesn't understand is that Wisconsin did not appreciate being threatened by the Union Thugs. They did not like to see the senior citizens carted around from polling place to polling place (time and time again). They did not like their democratic leaders partying unseemly in Illinois.

Clarence is right that the folks wanted their state governments finanaces to be put back in order. But Clarence has to drive away all his Republican and Independent readers with this Liberal/Progressive invective.

The Mainstream media just can't help themselves but to do this. And they don't realize they are driving Obama further to the left and over the cliff.

He's right. (Oh, look! My clock is stopped too!)

America is worried about medium to long term solvency.

The GOP is leading on this issue and the 'Rats are in denial.

This is why the 'Rats will be swept out in November.

The you missed this jewel:

"The Kochs helped Walker get elected and become a national star among ultraconservatives opposed to unions."

What exactly is an ultraconservative?

“What exactly is an ultraconservative?”

You know...That’s us conservative people that believe what the Constitution says and wants everyone else, including liberals, to live by it..

A ‘Conservative’ in their minds, is someone who is ‘flexible’ like McCain.

The LDPC Community (Lib/Dem/Progressive/Commie) must continue to spin the Wisconsin result into something that keeps their heads from exploding.

In the meantime they will be ignoring the approach of an electoral earthquake.

I believe Wisconsin is reminiscent of the loss of Ted Kennedy's seat in ultra liberal Mass. It was a local election that had national implications.

The shock wave that followed the Mass. upset, was the House of Reps swing back to Repubs.

Hopefully history is repeating itself and Wisconsin is the pre-quake alert. In November the ground will crumble under President BO and his foolish destructive hold on America will end.

President Walker exposed the organized crime scam of Democrats and unions turning taxpayers into a never empty ATM.

Romney should unleash the FBI and IRS on unions leaders. Right....

People see the choice between...

1) Fiscal responsibility, treating all workers fairly, and sustainability, and

2) Budget blowouts, giving elevated benefits to unions, and bankruptcy.

The Democrats rely on people being too stupid to figure this out.
