DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin said Friday he will push for more money in federal grants to pay for anti-bullying programs and attach more strings to teacher training money the federal government already doles out. Harkin made his remarks following a 2 ½- hour hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee held in the gymnasium of East High School in Des Moines Friday afternoon. But testimony at the hearing, which included brutally frank and heart-wrenching accounts of bullying from student panelists, made it clear that the federal government has a limited ability to do much about bullying and even struggles to define the issue.

The country is 16 Trillion in debt and Senator Harkin is focused on Bullying. Once again Democrats demagogue and throw up smoke screens. Anything to distract from the real issues facing our country is good election strategy for Dems. The Senate can not pass a budget, but they can spend money on any perceived crisis. Bullying is certainly a critical issue that threatens to destroy our country and Obama is the one to save the masses from Bullys. Romney was a bully in high school. I get it. Harkin and Dems is so smart to put this all together in the campaign;-)

Federal “anti-bullying” laws are an attempt to enforce PC restrictions on free speech and expression. Anything that is said that is not 100% PC will be turned into “hate speech” or “bullying.”

This summer, Senator Harkin will be signing copies of his Viet Nam war retrospective, “Wings Over Hanoi.”
Be sure to get your copy...

I completely agree with your statement. I would further add that this “anti-bullying” campaign has at its core a not-so-secret agenda of not only promoting homosexuality in our nation’s schools, but also of absolutely silencing any teacher, parent, or student who would dare object to homosexuality in any way. It is labeled “hate speech” and “bullying” to make any sort of objection.

The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Psalms 12:8

Under the new law, if this guy was a grade school teacher, it would be illegal to say a word about his perversion, or his attempts to groom children toward homosexuality.

You're absolutely right. In all of these "anti bullying" legislation , it always seems like there's an undercurrent of "homosexual indoctrination" under the surface. Seems to me the "safe schools czar" was also a member or at least a supporter of NAMBLA.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into this stuff, but whenever president Choomer is pushing something, I always look for the ulterior motive.

Geeks, introverts and effeminate kids have ALWAYS been bullied. Somehow America survived without Federal involvement.

You mean “I flew over a hundred combat missions in Viet Nam” Tom Harkin? That Tom Harkin? Who turned out to be some kind of reserve cargo plane pilot who never saw Viet Nam or something like that.
