Jeb Bush Says Mitt Romney Should Pick Marco Rubio
ABC News ^ | June 8, 2012 | Shushannah Walshe

Posted on 06/11/2012 3:55:26 AM PDT by pistolpackinpapa

Jeb Bush gave an impassioned endorsement of fellow Floridian Marco Rubio, advising Mitt Romney to pick him as his running mate and describing him as “the most articulate conservative elected official on the scene today,” and even spoke of the “great pride” he has for the U.S. senator from his home state.

“Marco Rubio is my favorite [choice], because we have a close relationship,” the former Florida governor told Charlie Rose in an interview that aired on his PBS show Thursday evening. “I admire him greatly … He speaks with great passion about American exceptionalism. I think he would lift the spirits of the campaign and provide some energy. Governor Romney is running a very good campaign right now and closed the gap and leading in some polls, but I think this would be an added bonus.”

In the wide ranging hour long interview that aired in parts Thursday morning on CBS’ “This Morning” and then in its entirety Thursday evening on PBS, Bush said Rubio has had enough preparation to be “one heartbeat away from the presidency” despite being a first term senator.

“Look he has more experience than Barack Obama had when he ran,” Bush said. “And the practical experience — he’s certainly got the intelligent acumen and fortitude to be a good president and I have a special place in my heart for him. It’s hard to describe the pride I have for his incredible success and how he has moved in to the job of being a U.S. senator with humility, not trying to be an arrogant guy, to learn the trade if you will. And people in Washington really admire him.”

Boy thank you for proving the birthers like you are stupid:

1. Obama's mother was a American Citizen and he was born in Hawaii.

2. Mitt's parents was both American Citizens..

Now for the kill for the idiot birthers...
3. Marco Rubio was born in this country and did't go through a naturalization ceremony.. The Constitution says nothing about the parents when it comes to people like Marco Rubio...

Actually people who voted THIRD PARTY for Ross Perot led to the Clintons. Now, we're stuck with them forever.

Do you have a source to substantiate your claims and accusations? Not being ugly. I’d sincerely like to see it if you have it.

Maybe Rubio should spend a little more time in the Senate -- aka be a little more seasoned before becoming one heartbeat away from the Presidency.

For me, the natural born citizen is the least concern--although he, like any candidate, should be fully vetted. The question of natural born citizen should be a valid concern, otherwise we'll start getting RINOs tossing up trial balloons for the likes of Ahnohld.

They (Birthers) have become an embarrassment haven’t they Eric? Rubio, Jindal and Romney were all born on U.S. soil. They need to spend their energy and efforts helping Sheriff Joe and Donald Trump go after the Kenyan Marxist in the White House. Bring him down, then any other “ineligibles” will fall like a house of cards; that simple.

I recall hearing Rubio for the first time in one of the FL debates against Christie. He was impressive.

However ....

#1 he is a Senator. Senators do no make good executives. Especially when ... [see #2]

#2 he has too little political or executive experience.

We already have two novices without executive experience in the WH. Neither the presidency nor the vice presidency should be OJT positions.

Get experience. Then run for office. Not the other way around.

Every time there’s a Rubio thread, the “natural born citizen” clown car shows up within minutes and they all spill out. It’s a fact of life here.

Actually people who voted THIRD PARTY for Ross Perot led to the Clintons.

1992 was HWBush's to lose. He did.

He even admitted in an interview soon after the election that he thought he would win because he was the incumbent, so he didn't see the need to campaign very much against that upstart from Arkansas.

Sorry, but the fault was more HWB than Perot.

And HWB's famous 'read my lips' lie. That helped do him in.

Irregardless, so you say we now adopt illegal stances as part of the conservative move to retake our country? Hogwash! Fall into their trap and we will be forever stained with what the Democrats have become.

Take the high road. Rubio is smart to downplay his perceived acceptance by not putting a definitive end to it. He knows he is far more important as a member of the Senate for his state than he would be if he were to actually entertain the VP idea. By keeping it in play he raises his stature in the Party as well as his future power to drive legislation that a friendly White House would be inclined to support.

Besides, we finally have a good Senator from this state, why open the door for the chance of another RINO weaseling its way in. I say get rid of beady-eyes Nelson and build a conservative base in Florida with Rubio as the model. Some complain about perceived co-opting in some policy statements, but they cannot disagree he is far better than Le Mieux (sp) or the inspiring /sarc McCollum.

I really wish Rubio would man up and put a stop to all this speculation with a simple statement, "I am not eligible, period."

IF Rubio was the Statesman many here wish him to be, this is the first thing he would say to each and every VP question.

Instead, he teases like a teenager who enjoys the attention.

Typical rino. All talk, no integrity.

Bravo Sierra to that hackneyed argument.

There are three good reasons Bush lost the base in ‘92, which is why Bush lost that election.

1. The base knew instinctively stopping short and leaving Saddam in power was a huge mistake that would lead to another war.
2. “Read My Lips...NO NEW TAXES!
3. Caving in to the LA rioters and re-prosecuting after a jury found the LEOs not guilty - then Ruby Ridge.

But these errors cannot be acknowledged, so the myth of Ross Perot causing Bush that election is always maintained.

Here is the 1992 election analysis of the numbers as they pertain to the charge that the Clintons are Perot’s fault:
