Zogby: Disillusioned young voters dropping out
Washington Examiner ^ | 6-11-2012 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 06/12/2012 4:59:45 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

Nearly four years after enthusiastic younger voters poured into polling booths to help push Barack Obama over the finish line and into the Oval Office, their hope has turned to fear and pollster John Zogby says that they are ready to give up on politics.

“I truly am worried about today's twenty-somethings,” he frets. “They are our global generation and I have seen them move from hope and grand expectations for themselves and their world to anxiety and disillusionment. We can't afford to lose them,” he adds.

Zogby previewed his remarks to the League of Women Voters 50th anniversary convention Monday night with Secrets. His worry: that younger voters will stop voting.

(snip) “You are needed more than ever,” he says of the group. “I see from your mission that you 'encourage' and I think we all need to move into crisis mode and use the word 'engage'. Especially young women.”

“How about the 18, 19 and 20 year olds who were sent off to Vietnam by politicians they never voted for.”

Excellent response. In my opinion, 55,000 men were murdered by the politicians during the Vietnam era.

LBJ. In just a few years, he did more damage to America than the commies did in the preceding century.

“Our global generation?

What is he talking about?”

You know...our global generation, the ones who could soon be wearing “Made In The World” labels in their clothing - if the morons have their way.

Good, let the grown-ups take over. The young were among those fooled by the great deceiver, 0bama.

Absolutely good. Whose bright idea was it to bump the voting age from 21 back to 18 anyway? That was stupid from the start.

When we were drafted at 18 to go overseas in the 50's and 60's and get our asses shot at, we thought it might be fair to allow us to vote.

They got rid of the draft, maybe they should have changed the law to allow only military to vote at 18.

That was my first thought too. Apparently they can see that the libs are clueless buffoons, but won’t look at the other side. At least partially (I would assume), because conservatism has been vilified for so long and it’s not “cool.”

What in the heck does that sentence mean? And this is Paul Bedard!

Re the apparent Zogby message: Sounds like his bias is really showing; the League of Women Voters is just another Rat group.

I never did agree with the draft - aside from filling the ranks with people who didn’t want to be there, it is my opinion that 18 is to young to be in combat.

Certainly I do not agree with high school kids voting.
Never did, even when I was a teen in the 60s & early 70s.

If recruitment of teenagers is needed, then perhaps a tiered system would be better, where, except in cases of real emergency, you may not serve in combat units, but be relegated to other support duties with pay and benefits reflecting such.

In WWII the average age in the military was higher - in the mid 25s I believe.

Returning the voting age to 21 would, at least, improve the maturity of the average voter...

Well that one is over.

Four years of selling off America’s assets to pay for ever bigger government must STOP.

Along with that, the buying up of the rest of the world’s stuff, made in assembly lines elsewhere.

America for America. Period.

Great news.... They should just sit the election out. This will kill Jug Ears election chances

***
The ObaMao campaign doesn’t need to worry; there are many, many illegal young people who will vote for him again.

Now if we can just get women to stop voting. (56-43 for O’blamer in 2008).

How about convince them to vote, for a Republican?

They vote for Democrats every four years.

Every four years, we get deeper in debt.

that is really well done, clear and easy to understand. Thanks. my brother spends a fair amount of time in ND, though his company is headquartered in OH/PA.

“How about convince them to vote, for a Republican?”

It will never happen. Too many single mothers looking for a daddy (government) to take care of their babies.

Reason #2,742 why the words “I will forgive your student loans” shall pass Obama’s lips before Halloween.

Returning the voting age to 21 ...
Teenage skulls are full of liberal propaganda and there isn't one Dem in this country who would vote for that.
Hell, they won't even pass Voter ID laws ... and we all know why. Feckin' commies.
