Anyone who wants to use force to impose their will upon you will always oppose your ability to resist that use of force.

Too late to turn the tide, Americans will do what they must to survive, to protect their homes and family.

So who is defending those that want to take away life, liberty and freedom? To inflict grievous harm?

Stand your Ground laws need to stay, needs to be defended and should not be struck down simply because some groups are complaining they cannot “get their share of booty”.

“While castle doctrine law may well have benefits to those protecting themselves in self-defense (meaning the individual cases where a person uses a weapon to deter a specific crime), there is no evidence that the law provides positive spillovers by deterring crime more generally,” they say.”

Talk about missing the point. I know criminals are generally stupid and not prone to making good decisions. It’s not about making them smarter, it’s about making sure innocent people have a chance to not to end up hurt or dead as a result of those decisions.

Yeesh.

Libs can't tell the difference between an aggressor and a defender.
Justifiable homicide is not murder.
700 is less than 5% of the more than 15,000 murders per year in the US.
How is that a "drastic increase"?
It probably contributes to the overall decline in the murder rate.

The “study” is just a correlation not an analysis of actual homicides and how they relate to the stand your ground laws

It would seem this journalist lacks the ability to READ!

All murders are homicides but not all homicides are murders.

All murders are homicides bat all homicides are not murders. They change the topic from the headline to the story.

Note the following:
In fact, they say the response of criminals to the idea that the victim may be armed is to arm themselves as well, turning what otherwise would have been burglaries and robberies into homicides.

"Regardless, the results indicate that a primary consequence of strengthening self-defense laws is increased homicide," the report concludes.
So if you protect yourself, you're increasing the risk that a buglar will kill you.

-- That it benefits those protecting themselves in self-defense should be enough. --

Indeed.

The source cited by the author is incorrect too, that there is no evidence of deterrent effect. There is plenty of evidence for the proposition that enabling citizens to use deadly force in self defense deters crime.

In most states, murder is the unlawful killing of a human being.Notice I said unlawful.

Self defense is not unlawful in most cases.

Enemy action/junk science ping.

So now killings done in self-defense are now 'murders'. Brought to you by the same folks who call 17-y.o. gangbangers 'unarmed teenagers'...

The left would LOVE for it to be illegal to defend yourself.

Former Dim presidential candidate, M. Stanley Dukakis, as governor of MA, managed to get a "duty to flee" [from your own abode] law passed.

Dukakis was, probably still is, a kool-aid drinker, but I'm pretty sure the MA solons went along to protect their own ne'er-do-well offspring, relatives, and voters, from people with common sense.
