New Data on Same-sex Parenting Challenges Gay Orthodoxy (The kids are NOT all right)
American Thinker ^ | 06/12/2012 | J. Robert Smith

The Washington Times reported on Sunday that two new studies indicate that children raised by gay parents might not benefit from the experience like kids raised by married mother-father parents.

"The empirical claim that no notable differences exist must go," University of Texas sociology professor Mark Regnerus said in his study in Social Science Research. Regnerus's study involved 3,000 randomly selected young adults in the U.S. These young adults' lives were measured for "social, emotional, and relationship outcomes."

The other new study challenges the widely accepted contention by the American Psychological Association that "[n]ot a single study has found children of lesbian or gay parents to be disadvantaged in any significant respect relative to children of heterosexual parents." Reports the Times:

"He [Regnerus] found that, when compared with adults raised in married, mother-father families, adults raised by lesbian mothers had negative outcomes in 24 of 40 categories, while adults raised by gay fathers had negative outcomes in 19 categories."

Regnerus is careful not to assert that his study is conclusive, though some pro-gay parent advocates seem to want their "evidence" for same-sex parents' equality to end the debate. Michael E. Lamb, who's reported by the Times as a scholar at the University of Cambridge, is quoted as saying in Applied Developmental Science in April:

"[A]vailable evidence is sufficiently conclusive [that] children and adolescents being raised by same-sex parents are as likely to be well-adjusted as children and adolescents with heterosexual parents."

Regnerus' study, in particular, is welcome. There needs to by honest examination of and open challenges to the conventional wisdom about the role of gays in parenting.

When you do a study, you need to do it in a “fair” manner. Comparing the outcome of children raised by Gay families may not be “fair” as opposed to measuring kids raised by married parents, in that the parents are ‘blood’ (genetically) tied to the hetero-sexual family. Thus, the parents have a child not unlike them physically, mentally and emotionally. The married straight family units have these factors (both nurture and nature) that do not exist in a “Gay” family.

How do the kids raised in Gay households compare against kids raised in Foster-care program, or in an orphanage?

RE: the parents are ‘blood’ (genetically) tied to the hetero-sexual family.

Well, I have seen gays have babies by in-vitro fertilization using their own sperm with another woman’s egg. In which case, he is related to the kid by blood.

In fact, I have heard of lesbian couples who have each given birth to a child using the same sperm donor.

Is there anything more disgusting than a same-sex child molestor? Maybe the same-sex molestor and consumer of human flesh?

Ask yourself, which same-sex group formed an international organization devoted to the rape of young boys? This same group has been welcomed and marched openly in “gay” pride parades for years. Where is the outrage NAMBLA.ORG. Membership in nambla is merely an extension of the “gay” lifestyle that yet remains in the closet, but we all know it is there.

Not to mention, that pairs of male homosexuals are now allowed to adopt/buy little boys for a lifetime of “love and joy.” Fathom the abuse these kids will suffer, perhaps for the rest of their lives. But hey, we must be willing to tolerant the sexual preference crowd that is rapidly gaining power over normal heterosexuals.

Any study in this arena will be flawed. Deeply flawed. Why?

Because, one cannot guarantee objectivity on the part of those constructing and carrying out the study. The patina of “scientific objectivity” can all too often be scrubbed away in such areas of study, and even when it cannot the results will only be accepted or rejected by others depending solely on their pre-formed notions of the truth.

Motives, conscious or unconscious, are just too strong in certain areas of life, and this is one of them.

The claim that is being asserted by gay activists is that children raised by gays are no worse off that children raised in two parent married heterosexual families. So of course you would compare these two groups rather than the gay parenting families with the less than ideal scenarios of children raised in orphanages or foster-care.

This has ALWAYS been the case.. anyone telling you otherwise has been LYING!

There was one study done in a country, I forget which one, but it was a northern european country that had no social stigmatism toward homosexuality at all, and even in such a place they found the kids raised by homosexual parents were not as well adjusted as those raised in a traditional, or even a 1 parent home.

This nonsense that its just the same as everyone else is nonsense!

Where is the discussion about children who have parents with an average life expectancy of 42 years being put in a situation where they have a very high likelihood of becoming orphans as teens or young adults?

Yes, because that is an ACCURATE comparison. If the kids were not housed with a Gay couple - this is where they would wind up, right? Children from a married couple typically don't wind up in Foster care. To do any study, you have to avoid "cherry-picking" the subjects.

However, I believe that any honest study would find that children housed in Foster-care or an Orphanage would STILL be better off than those placed in a Gay Household.

***children raised by gay parents***

My Niece pointed out to me that homo men want to adopt BOYS, lesbians want to adopt GIRLS. Anyone else notice this trend?

You're missing the obvious fact that EVERY homosexual family, BY DESIGN, is comprised of children not genetically related to both "parents." This is an inherent flaw that cannot be avoided, and it is a flaw promoted by activist homosexuals.

“..one cannot guarantee objectivity on the part of those constructing and carrying out the study. ..”

One man did a study and hoped to find out it was OK to be brought up by homosexual parents, BUT this is what he found:

“58 percent of the children of lesbians called themselves gay, and 33 percent of the children of gay men called themselves gay.”

snip http://www.aolnews.com/2010/10/17/study-gay-parents-more-likely-to-have-gay-kids

Which is why it’s selfish for same-sex parents to adopt, especially when so many say being gay was so tough on them.

But that is precisely the comparison that gays insist on themselves, when they make their assertions about the wholesomeness and kid-friendliness of gay parenting.

Why bring in a third model for comparison, except to give gay parenting an easier standard to measure against? Patrick Moynihan called this constant liberal practice (or "ruse", better), "defining deviancy down".

That is what the whole marriage debate -- initiated by the homosexual political crowd -- is about: Defining deviancy (theirs) down, by disparaging normal heterosexuality in all its expressions.

Well, no, I hadn't, but if it is there, someone had better look into the incidence of "incest" in such cases.

Paula Poundstone, the sapphic comedienne, was thrown in jail and had her kids taken away, years ago, after she was caught teaching her tweenaged (female) ward some things the girl would normally not have learned before age 30.

I'm a big believer in telling the truth - right to their faces.

The data shows that Gay couples are INFERIOR to married couples when it comes to raising kids. That's the truth ...

The secondary study, the "fair" study; would be to see how Gay couples measure against the Fostercare or Orphanage programs - because if they are inferior here too; this makes a great case to deny allowing gay couples to adopt kids, doesn't it?
