"Why should the doctor be resposible?"sic
The CARDIOLOGIST hung out a single advertising that he was competent and suckered this guy into believing such BS. The insurance co. was also incompetent, since they failed to institute an adequate quality program, with effective auditing, so this kind of nonexistent concern and professionalism expended to patient health was/is thwarted before the damage occurs.

I’ll hazard a guess. This case was more about plundering a rich, evil insurance company out of sympathy for the victim (the widow) and her children.
Everyone knows insurance companies are literally swimming in cash. They can afford to be generous...
(That last part was sarcasm)

The jury found the doctor 60% to blame and Martinez, the cop, 40% to blame, from what I can determine. That likely doesnt satisfy the doctor. If the doctor was going to shoulder that much blame, then wouldn't the decent thing have been to invite him to join in?

Honestly, is there no sense of shame anywhere anymore? If my husband died in such a disgraceful situation, I would die of embarrassment. I would certainly not want to show my face in court for the whole world to see. Disgusting. 3 million dollars goes a long way to overcome some humiliation...have a sense of shame if you desire, but take the money.

Personally, I’m planning a swim from New orleans to Rio de Janeiro; I do hope that, if I grow fatigued and drown, my heirs will be able to claim it was my doctor’s fault.
Now, why on Earth are doctors retiring from private practice?
Could it be because their malpractice insurance premiums are going through the roof and the morons pushing ObamaCare are trying to set limits on doctors’ fees?
In a generation, we’ve gone from the best medical care in the world to a medical mess.
Give us another few years, and we’ll all be going to Canada when we become ill.
Whatever the government touches turns to sh*t.

He had scheduled a stress test — but the guy died the day before the appointment.

It doesn't sound like the wife was involved, possibly two guys and a girl, though. Wonder if the other guy was a cop too, and what they had on that girl.

Oh yeah, I remember my last 3 way.
After disrobing and getting warmed up and just prior to getting to the good part, I quickly called my Dr and he advised me against it.
So I left.
I don’t think s/s/s/s/ is necessary here...<:

Hmmmm, maybe the wife can also claim that it was an “undercover sting” operation and get a lifetime settlement from Workers’ Compensation too.
“Yes, Your Honor, my husband was working vice that night and investigating hookers at that motel. He was on the job!!
