Health panel talks about wider food ban

MYFOXNY.COM - The board hand-picked by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that must approve his ban of selling large sugar-filled drinks at restaurants might be looking at other targets.

The New York City Board of Health showed support for limiting sizes of sugary drinks at a Tuesday meeting in Queens. They agreed to start the process to formalize the large-drink ban by agreeing to start a six-week public comment period.

At the meeting, some of the members of board said they should be considering other limits on high-calorie foods.

One member, Bruce Vladeck, thinks limiting the sizes for movie theater popcorn should be considered.

"The popcorn isn't a whole lot better than the soda," Vladeck said.

Another board member thinks milk drinks should fall under the size limits.

"There are certainly milkshakes and milk-coffee beverages that have monstrous amounts of calories," said board member Dr. Joel Forman.

Mayor Bloomberg says the drink rules are an attempt to fight obesity in the city. It would limit food service establishments in the city from serving drinks bigger than 16 ounces but would allow refills.

The New York City Restaurant Association is fighting the proposal and is considering legal action of it goes into effect.

New York City voters oppose 51 - 46 percent Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on the sale of over-sized sugary soft drinks, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

“Keep laughing. Fast food burgers and fries are next. I never go to NY, never do business with any businesses there, and encourage all friends and business associates to do the same.”

That’s because you are normal and sane.

CRAPO (Controlling, Regulating Anti-freedom Psychotic Oppressor)

We've sure got a lot of these unelected officious ninnies around ... maybe we oughta declare open season and get rid of them. Life would be a heck of a lot easier.

“We get one large box and one large drink with three straws.”

Ain't it the truth. From the mayor of NYC to the smallest homeowner's association. The dorks and ugly chicks who got picked on in school? NOT! I was a 'dork' in school (but Phoenix'ed into more than the ones who picked on me could ever imagine) and I have no desire to piss on someone else's parade. These are just totally effe'd up people regardless of what they were.

Talk about revenge of the psycho-weirdo nerds!

WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE? Do they not have anything better to do than screw with other people's lives?

I'm pulling up one of my old tag lines (albeit modified).

Here's what Bloomie should do: Ban ALL food from being sold in NYC because it makes people fat and . . . (fill-in blank).

Seriously, are the people in NYC really THIS stupid to go along with lunatic Bloomberg?

Actually no. Piddly stuff - like real black licorice candy-was taken off the shelf years ago because something it contained wasn’t healthy. A friend who manages a drug store of a large chain said there are over 2,000 items they no longer stock. Said their corporate management told her people will “get used to it”. Just too many things I’ve been able to buy during my long life that simply aren’t available. I’m sure some of it is because the company that made it isn’t in business any more but this can’t be true of so much.

The nannies think we were smart enough to vote for them, but are not smart enough to chose what to eat, how much to drink, what to inhale or even what type of light bulb to use.

Insane? Not sure, but I'm also intrigued with the psychology of Bloomberg--and his constituents-- the billionaire. What makes him tick? After studying on him a bit a have concluded the answer my friend is blowing in the sin: Lust [for power and control of others' lives] now that he's checked off the fame and fortune box. The same call that beckons a lot of these personalities.

This is a case study in liberalism 101. We get up close and observe personal traits of the liberal beast in the field, his habitat, his philosophy, tactics and feeding requirements.. etc

Part of me just shrugs because, after all, those people chose him to be their overlord. Their psychology may be even more disturbing if you think about it.
