SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco couple whose teenage daughter was allegedly being pimped by a Southern California man tracked him around the state, failing at one attempt to kill him before shooting him to death near Candlestick Park, authorities said Wednesday.

Attorneys for the couple say they tried everything to rescue their daughter from Calvin Sneed, a 22-year-old alleged gang member from Compton (Los Angeles County), but that they didn't kill him.

Prosecutors, however, say that when Barry Gilton and his longtime girlfriend, Lupe Mercado, couldn't get their 17-year-old daughter back through legitimate means, they turned to premeditated murder.

Gilton, 38, and Mercado, 37, appeared in court Wednesday on murder and other charges for allegedly shooting Sneed in the Bayview neighborhood in the early hours of June 4. Hunt for daughter

The couple have been together since middle school and live with their three other children in San Francisco. Their daughter disappeared some time ago and after searching for her, Gilton and Mercado discovered she was turning tricks and that Sneed was her pimp, their attorneys said.

"They had gone out to local police agencies, agencies in Southern California - they had even tried talking to national organizations," said Eric Safire, Gilton's attorney. "Every place they turned to turned them away." L.A. shooting

Eventually, they found that the girl and Sneed were in North Hollywood, San Francisco police Officer David Nakasu said in the criminal complaint. On May 27, someone there fired a 9mm pistol into Sneed's car, and police believe it was either Gilton or Mercado.

I don’t know what to think about this. I understand the parents action however this was premeditated. They stalked the Guy. They have created a worse mess. What about their other kids? They might have put not only their lives in danger but also their family.

Bayview is more like Mogadishu by the Bay. Our great Willie Brown at one time trying to get a shopping mall built there to revitalize the area LOL.

My body belongs to me, not to the State, not to some invisible guy in the sky, and certainly not to you. If I want to rent it out it’s absolutely nobody’s business but mine and the other party to the transaction.

That holds true for digging ditches, pounding nails, or having sex.

As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult, of course.

Who gets to decide what’s “debasing” and “inhumane” anyway? You? Some priest? Some idiots in the Legislature?

Is cleaning sewers debasing or inhumane?
How about slaughtering animals for consumption?

How about you mind your own business and I’ll mind mine.

I’d nullify this without any hesitation.

This is a perfect example of why Juries exist.

Selling your body for work that doesn’t destroy the dignity and health of the body is fine and Virtuous and your right if there is equal compensation and agreement. But inalienable rights—(liberty)-— mean—that a person doesn’t even have the liberty of giving up his own life or freedom if he WANTED to—There is no Right to be a slave as Just Law would claim. That is the meaning of inalienable in our Founding Documents.

You have no “rights” to use your body in ways which make you a slave-—no monetary rewards can be equal to the sexual use of a body without the necessary commitment and responsibility for life which it could create. That promiscuous sex also destroys health and becomes a great cost to society—by disease and jealousy and murders and chaos-—there is reason to control sex since the emotional element of it is crucial to healthy teleological ends of human beings-—and a flourishing culture and society.

Government has an interest to promote civil society-—where human beings do their main duty-—that of raising their own biological offspring—so they do not become wards and a cost to the State. That is why there is a duty of government for the general welfare of all children—to promote marriage which makes the sexes equal and do their duty of raising their own progeny.

Not being responsible for ones own children is the greatest cost-—not only in the fatherless children who are in prison but in the dysfunction and murder and chaos-—done by the neglected children who grow up to be angry and uncivil.

In Civil Societies-—you do not have a right to behaviors which destroy the future generations and the emotional health of the family unit—the foundation of healthy society.

Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines unalienable as “not alienable; that cannot be alienated; that may not be transferred; as in unalienable rights” and inalienable as “cannot be legally or justly alienated or transferred to another.” The Declaration of Independence reads:

Just because you have an urge to do something-—doesn’t mean it is Virtuous or a “Right”. All “Rights” are God-Given in this country—which means Prostitution is an evil and never a Right.

Laws do not promote vice.

But the nature of the common law is that there must be a victim, an injured party.

You might say that prostitution is unlawfull, and the prostitute is a “victim”, but unless YOU YOURSELF are that prostitute, you, or the law, have nothing to say about it.

You might say that the “John” is a victim, but unless YOU YOURSELF are that John, you, or the law have nothing to say about it.

It’s kind of like you try to buy an insurance policy for your neighbors house, then collect if the place burns down. It’s unconscionable.

You can’t arbitrarily decide what is right or wrong for somebody else.

That’s not “Liberty”, that’s social engineering.

So un-San Francisco-like.

That being said, good shooting.
