Fury as HBO's Game of Thrones shows President George W. Bush's decapitated head impaled on a STAKE

Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones after the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes.

In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is seen impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt.

Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who noted the appearance in the series' DVD commentary, insist it wasn't a political statement - just a prop.

But the image has provoked outrage among some Republican politicians.

Exactly. If it was Obama’s head on the stake would that clown feel the same way?

Isn’t this the same entertainment paragon that gives us John Stewart?

This is the same kind of phony outrage common among our Democrat friends.

Let’s not take the bait.

I like the show and have seen every episode and don’t recall having seen W’s head on a pike. It’s a non-issue to me.

I read two and I think a half book and decided long ago not to even bother watching the series. The books sure started off good...

A swat team would show up at a person's door. It takes liberals for this type of crude revulsive hateful demonization of conservatives. HBO should be cancelled by those repulsed by this show and sponsors permanently boycotted. How much liberal hatred inserted in TV shows and movies will it take before people get fed up with it once and for all?

If the Game of Thornes has no viewers, then the thorns are self-inflicted.

I wouldn’t sweat it so much. The are are people here who feel the pretty much the same way. I’m surprised they haven’t found this thread, yet. Maybe it’s not positive enough.

There’s not a right-winger in that entire family. I can’t understand it.

I’ve never heard of the show but then again I have never subscribed to any package that includes HBO.

Hollywood has this primordial fantasy of Bush being killed. During his administration they made a movie about his assassination. Now his head on a stake. These people are pathological. Too much sun and drugs. They are very creepy people.

...Deep in the bowels of a historic monument in the nations capitol, there is a dungeon like facility. In that facility there is a sparsely decorated room. Upon notification of the seizure of the person who disrespected THE ONE, the enforcer, who has a particular `interest`, and close relationship with THE ONE gets involved. She appears dressed in a black hood, and jumpsuit, with only two eye slots. Her eyes glow red from behind the hood. "We will make you swear off Cheeseburgers. My pet spy Axelrod shall make sure of that, we will implant a microchip in you with every hamburger franchise address in the country. If you are within 50 feet of ANY fast food outlet you will feel immense pain. The will of THE ONE will be done." You are part of a grand people's experiment...This is your punishment for the disrespect.

Oh yes. Let's take the high road and stay above such low-minded ruffianism.

My ass. Where exactly did that sort of turn-the-other-cheek attitude get George W during his presidency? Permanent enshrinement in the Hall of Villainy. How did that affect the right? It tarnished us all by association, and led to the election of the most leftist president in American history.

No thank you. Never again. These scum sucking bottom feeders need to get a fist full of knuckles whenever they pull that crap on us from now on. I'm sick of us being their doormat.

I’m halfway through book 3 and I love the series.

The 3rd book is the best of the series so far - several jaw-dropping moments. I envy someone who gets to read it for the first time.

I’ve never watched the show — don’t have cable.

You haven't missed much. Some very good acting by Peter Dinklage, Charles Dance, Maisie Williams and others, but the liberties they're taking with the story have grown blatant.
