What A Fluke: Even CNN Agrees Young People Lack Opportunity
CNS News ^ | 6/14/2012 | Celia Bigelow

Posted on 06/15/2012 5:56:10 AM PDT by IbJensen

“[T]his is the best time for employment opportunities for young college graduates since this recession started,” activist Sandra Fluke told CNN today.

Fluke’s lofty statement on CNN this morning is a complete slap in the face to recent college graduates struggling in this stagnant economy.

In fact, young people have suffered the most out of any other demographic from this economic downturn. There are no opportunities for my generation - America is in the midst of a Great Youth Depression.

The key reason is that businesses aren’t hiring. A massive amount of bureaucratic red tape has strangled business expansion and has forced business owners into survival mode. When this occurs, jobs are the first to go.

Over the past three years, over 100 new regulations have been created to the tune of $46 billion. In order to pay for this expensive bill, businesses must adjust their books and scale back accordingly - and they have.

Unemployment has been held stubbornly over 8 percent for the past 40 months. The unemployment rate increased from 8.1 percent in April to 8.2 percent in May. The Labor Department also reported today that applications for unemployment benefits have increased by 6,000 in just the past week.

Not exactly stellar numbers. Unfortunately, statistics for Millenials are far more dismal.

Youth unemployment is around 17 percent, more than double the national average and the highest it has been since World War II. A whopping 42 percent of the 2012 graduating class will pack up and move home with mom and dad.

This doesn’t sound like freedom and opportunity, it sounds like tyranny and eternal childhood.

Millenials are currently forced to compete with the tens and thousands of unemployed American’s with more experience and seniority. This explains why additional unemployed 18-29 year olds in May increased by 114,000 since April.

If businesses are hiring, they sure aren’t hiring inexperienced youngsters.

I don't know who Sandra Fluke has been conversing with, but it is sure not with the hundreds of thousands of young American's unemployed or underemployed. Conditions have steadily gotten worse for Millenials and will continue to do so unless there is structural change in America.

So, my advice for her is this: instead of making ridiculous, slap-in-the-face statements over national news media, she needs to give herself a slap in the face for a serious reality check. My generation is miserable, and we don’t need her saying it isn’t. CNN agrees.

Editor's Note: Celia Bigelow has a bachelor's degree in Economics. Sandra Fluke has a bachelor's degree in Feminist, Gender, And Sexuality Studies.

Rode hard and hung up wet is an apt description for Ms. Fluke.

I didn't know they gave affirmative action to stupid people. How else can you figure she got into Georgetown? On her back?

A proven liar she "testified" at a democrat staged media event that students had to pay $1,000 a year for contraceptives, only problem was the pill could be bought 500 yards from the university for $108 a year.

The media played her up as a "young" university student, actually in her mid thirties but with a lot of wear on her. She is also not a student she is a graduate student who selected a catholic university to go to just so she could protest the university not paying for students contraceptive.

This person personifies the typical democrat, proud to be seen as a liar and obviously believes that the bigger the lie and the more it is repeated the stupid taxpayers will believe it.

This sorry excuse for a human being obviously has hit on a good employment program,

1. Go to a University you despise

2. Agitate for changes to standing university policy to get someone else to pay for a wanton lifestyle.

3. Latch on to a sleazebag democrat like pelosi.

4. Agree to be the knowledgeable person trotted out for the lame stream media to "prove" there is a war on women

5. Lie and keep lying till you are a democrat celebrity,

Professional student, professional agitator, professional liar, all good attributes that an over regulated taxed to death small business would hire, NOT.

“Lack of opportunity” is the direct result of liberal policies.

Minimum wage laws, teaching entitlement mentality, welfare, high taxes and regulation on job providers...

well, you all know the policies in question.

Has this Fluke woman gotten herself an agent or something. Out of nowhere she is popping up saying nothing about things that don’t matter and having it play like news ...liberal news.

who in the Democrat Party sees her as a rising star? Somebody is trying really hard to move her “career” along, and it’s just pitiful. I’m certain she will run for Congress in 2014. I suppose if Mommy’s Little Man can be President, anything is possible, but she’s really weak stuff.

Love your comments!

I think Fluke gets paid by the lie, like Debbie Washerwoman Schultz.

I graduated from college during the stellar Carter economy. Not much fun there. Our sons are getting smacked by the current weak economy. My hope is that by the time they're both out of college or grad school, things will look a bit better for their generation. They're 16 and 19. They both have life guarding jobs for the summer; one of them has two jobs. Unfortunately, the swim clubs have hired numerous life guards, and even with three jobs between them, through the end of June they haven't been given enough work hours to pay for the required official swim trunks and whistles. Vapor jobs.

We've been putting them to work helping with things that need doing here at home. Our younger son has been helping out an older lady nearby who needs help with her yard and garden work. It's sad to see young people who want to work having a tough time finding even seasonal employment.

Seriously now, every reasonable indicator shows that Fluke is a dude. Someone like that simply has no sensitivity to the plight of others.

Her/his eye is focused somewhere near the naval.

“[T]his is the best time for employment opportunities for young college graduates since this recession started,” activist Sandra Fluke told CNN today.

This 'lady' is clearly being groomed for a far-left whacko district. She may front as a CongressThing or a Senator. She will occupy a bulletproof Berkley-style district.

She is already on-board with whacky disinformational propaganda statements, so it's obvious they are grooming her in the Pelosi tradition.

She may be auditioning for the DNC as spokesperson or perhaps scriptwriter. But that voice totally irritates me.

“who in the Democrat Party sees her as a rising star?”

Van_Jones & Sandra_Fluke speakers at Socialist Summit.

Note- they never use a word stronger than Progressive, but look at the list of sponsors.
